I'm very pro-Wenger but I have a problem with the bolded part. He took players who were destined for greatness and fell at an early hurdle and gave them a new pair of trainers. He's had far more failures than successes and he's been shown to be lacking when it comes to motivating players on numerous occasions. Wenger is an above average manager without a doubt, but when it comes to players outside of those he had early in their careers there's nothing but question-marks. Fabregas is his only real success at this point.
Think your being really harsh on someone who has one of the best transfers records in the world and also a big reputation for developing talent.
Surley Wilshere can also be counted as a success? Did Vieira, Pires, Ljungberg, Nasri, Cole, etc etc etc all fall at an early hurdle? I dont recall that being the case. There are many many other players I could mention to back this up also so I totally disagree with everything you have said above.
Are you really trying to put Nasri in the same league as Vieira, Pires, Ljungberg and Cole? Seems a little disrespectful.
Also, all of Wenger's transfer successes are from yesteryear. The ones of today are all questionable given that our odds of finishing top two are just as long as our odds of winning the title. Wenger is, on current standing, Moyes with a bit of history.
Wenger's successes are outnumbered by his failures whether we're talking about trophies or players. That's a sad fact but it's true. For every Vieira there's five Denilson's, every Pires five Quincy's, for every Freddie there's five Rosicky's and for every Cole there's a Gibbs. The key to his early success is the thing that underlines his failures now, his overt commitment to players and the family mentality of the squad. For every season we're forced to put up with Diaby and Rosicky, there's a player we opted not to buy in their names and thus we failed to strengthen the squad. He lacks the ruthlessness of those proven more successful then he.
That said, I believe he is the man for us and will win us at least two more league titles, though not back to back.
