my point is that it's not our choice to make, and if nasri is not going to re-sign, then keeping him is not one of our options, no matter what we do. i don't see the point in keeping him around for a trophyless season and then losing him on a free, costing us the 20m for his replacement. it's insanity.

Not even City are stupid enough to pay 25-30m for a player in the last year of his contract. Infact, I doubt the truth in the rumours of £20m bids.

City need a penetrative player like Nasri. He will get them close to being favorites at home and a European force. Selling to them will guarantee they finish ahead of us. Again. I would not sell to them now. Rather give him to Mourinho, who is building a fine collection of attacking mids

I dont think we should sell him to City either, or any other rival for that matter. This season could/should be his best season for us and I truly feel we are very close to winning things.

If we win something he'll sign a new contract. If we sell him and buy a replacement who needs to bed in for a season we will likely win nothing again.

Keep this squad together plus make a couple of additions - Gervinho, Jenkinson, Ryo, another quality CB, and another quality CF and we will win things IMO

Totally agree Asa, none of this is in the club or supporters interests.

How have you come up with the notion that nobody respects us? I think we are one ofthe most respected clubs in the world. Furthermore Arsene Wenger is also one of the most repected managers in world football.

Fact is they don't see us as a "big" anymore and they don't feel threatened by us either.

Wenger was 'Arsene who?' before he came here and receives respect just for being Arsenal manager and for what he achieved years ago and for his longevity but time marches on and he's done of note in 5 years.
It's true he is gentleman in a game thats populated by con-men jumped up barrow boys and showmen but he does leave himself open to ridicule by his constant stupid excuses, instead of changing course to try a fix problems.

Lots of people in the game respect Wenger hugely for what he has done at Arsenal in the last 5 years alone, Biggus. Whether you agree or not that they are right to, it's a fact that many do.

Ask all the managers who have publicly stated their admiration and respect for the job he has done in the difficult period after the stadium move why they feel how they do. There are plenty of them.

The other big managers do not respect what Wenger's done in the past five years. Hear the comments from Ferguson. He doesn't even consider us the main title challenger when we are neck and neck with him in the league and have the easiest schedule to finish the league. Mourinho is always joking about how easy a job Wenger has, and how the team is forever 'young'.

And on top of that, when was the last time a truly big player said, "I want to join the Arsenal". We used to hear players like Kaka speak glowingly about us. Nowadays, we have branded ourselves as also-rans

And mentioning Mourinho is laughable. He'll tell you Ferguson is a rubbish manager when it suits him.

Lol. Mourinho does have caveman manners, but I doubt he'd go that far.
I think managers feel more sympathetic - either they know he doesn't have the funds, or they feel sorry for him that his project has failed to yield anything other than the occasional pretty pass

No mate; Wenger does not attend oversubscribed management conferences as a lead speaker and advisor for all of the top people in football because they feel sorry for him.
