I agree that Nasri is replaceable, but people fail to consider that the replacement might not be available. People talk about Hazard, about Mata, about Kagawa. None of them were on Nasri's level last season. Kagawa was for a while but then he broke his foot. Even when you ignore the fact that he's on a four-year contract with a club that is under no pressure to sell, who knows where he is physically at this stage. Not even Alexis Sanchez was on Nasri's level for most of the season and he's rumoured to go for insane sums. £25 million should theoretically be enough cash to replace him, but where is this player? Can anyone point him out, say for sure that he's available? Only one I can think of that really fits the bill and would be an improvement is Rossi, and he's going to be expensive as fuck after Villarreal turned down a £35 million offer. Even shit like Stuart Downing is going for insane sums.
If Nasri is allowed to leave I think it's pretty much unavoidable that we'll enter next season with a weakened team. We might replace the potential though, but isn't that what we always do and the very reason that we're in a constant transition period? It's equally about the message it sends. You can't pretend that you're ambitious in front of Cesc, Robin and Wilshere if you sell one of your best players to a direct rival. You just can't. He's worth keeping for a season with that in mind, even if it does cost us £20-25 million. The potential benefit of doing so is greater than that.
