Of course we have to spend, but we should spend to improve rather than to replace. People suggest that we should replace Nasri with someone like Mata when in reality we should aspire to have both of them at the club.

For me its a blessing in disguise. I want Nasri out and made my mind up after he bottled two piss easy chances against Bolton to keep us in the title race .8/10 times he beats a man, turns around and passes it back to Clichy.

We dont need this bottler and coward in the team. The drawback of him leaving would be the Physiological effect it has on the team seeing someone of his reputation leave along with Fabregas and other experienced players like Clichy regardless of how good some of them are.

I love how because Nasri was outstanding for the first half of the season he's the problem for not being as good for the 2nd half of the season. Nevermind that bar van Persie no one else in the team ever had a spell of form nearly as good.

Indeed, QS. The people who are critical of Nasri and Fabregas also conveniently neglect the fact that both players were forced to play injured because Wenger's creatures were completely unreliable.

they are his creatures too. and all top teams rely on elite players to deliver. it's why they make more than everyone else and demand more than everyone else on the team. my criticism starts at the top and works its way down, not the other way around. thierry henry was relied on to deliver and when he did we won, when he didn't we lost. barca would never have knocked us out without messi. it's only at arsenal we see these "stars" absolved for never being there when it matters.

i remember Thierry Henry getting a lot of grief from fans when he was injured in his last couple of seasons. The man was playing with excruciating back pain, and fans would get on boards and write 'he looks disinterested. he should f&ck off' or 'he's always injured. we should sell him'. Stuff like that. I recall a number of fans even being happy to see the back of him.

Nasri is the least of our problems. When he was good, he was stunning this season. We just need more consistency from him, and a lot of that will come from giving him one or two better players who can play with or in place of him; not Bendtner and Rosicky

We need to add to the few great players we have not to be too reliant on them, not sell them if they aren't able to carry the team with more than a few average links in it. Cesc, Robin, Nasri etc. can win you games, but they're not superhuman and can't outdo the damage the likes of Almunia have done.

Nasri seems to be thinking that as well, if the latest quotes are to be believed.

Henry and Messi also had teammates who were amongst the best of their generation.

Nasri's hardly being absolved of being poor either. On this forum at least the consensus is that he was superb in the first half of the season and disappointing in the second. However, that does not mean he should be allowed to walk out of the club.

Mine too, but I never see you criticising 'the top' too much. :hmm:

because at the end of the day wenger has delivered trophies for arsenal. these current players haven't done shit that sticks in my mind as a good memory. it's his fault for tolerating the losers -- loved and hated alike by the fans -- but i'm not going on some irrational wenger hate fest because i remember and i'll rather him just leave when his contract is up. so from the top starts with the playing roster ... those who are most likely to say "i'm leaving to win things." ok so what did you do over the course of 38 games to "win things"? none of them would be able to provide a satisfactory answer, whether it's non-performance when they are playing or when their bodies won't allow them to.

No- not at the end of the day, that was 6 years ago- the entire 2nd half of his reign here, the exact same thing that Nasri is getting ripped apart for last season.

And its not irrational hate on my part, its very rational frustration seeing the same stupid mistakes repeated over and over and over again just because he's too proud to admit he was wrong and has failed.
It surely must be the same for anyone who loves Arsenal- seeing how low he's dragged us, and it could get worse.

The thing is in those days Pires would go through half season spells of brilliance but we had the likes of Henry, Vieira, Bergkamp and even Freddie who could also go on great consistent spells of class if someone elses form dipped. Not only that but we had the likes of Parlour, Wiltord, Edu, etc in the squad to step in.

Right now we lack in both top class players and in quality depth within the first 18

Indeed it is quite shocking Biggus. If by dragging low you mean actually consistently finishing ahead of where we finished immediately prior to his coming here. For that he deserves more respect that you are wont to give him. I guess it's not the same for anyone who loves Arsenal eh?

Before you bang on about the last six years as you do Biggus , the situation the club was in back then is far different to what it is now. Can completely understand why club was prudent up until two seasons ago. Less so last year, and no reason for it not to spend relatively large sums this summer on quality players to improve

He's not infallible - if we havent strengthened by the start of the season, and we start poorly, it will impossible to feel sorry for him, as largely he has brought it upon himself with his inaction this summer.
