If Nasri went to City I think he'd end up like Milner. Good player, but nothing spectacular.

Nasri would be the missing link for Citeh. I think adding him would be enough to make them favorites, unless United and Chelsea add some really good pieces

I'm not saying they're equal in talent.

Nasri is capable of the spectacular, but I don't think he'll develop that at city. It took him 3 years for it to really show at Arsenal. Before that he was rather underwhelming. A good player, but not world class. He was already retreating in the second half of the season, and I don't think he'll flourish at city. He'll be a goot player, that works well in a team. But I don't think he'll be a real star. JMO.

They need somebody who can give the final pass and that isn't Nasri. He wouldn't improve them at all.

Nasri's what age? 24? 25?
It's not unusual that players only begin to hit their stride at that age?

We've been expecting so much of players so young that maybe we've got a distorted view of how the development cycle of a player generally goes?

Are we going to make a habit of selling players at the first sign that they may be realising their potential before we even give them a chance to flourish here?
We might bring them back in their thirties if they come cheap and we're desperate.

If Nasri steers clear of injury I don't see any reason why he won't continue to develop and reach his peak at City.
He certainly won't get burnt out there.

That's what I think as well. I just don't rate Nasri as a playmaker. But when he's playing like he did during the first half of the season, from wide, scoring goals, dribblling with confidence..etc then he's a great asset.

Nah he was playing more in the center at the start of the season when Fabregas was injured, thats where he was brilliant, he only faded when he was moved back out wide.

Nope. Nasri only started a few games centrally and played his best on the right. Wenger saw how well he did wide and so when Cesc was injured, Wenger often brought in Rosicky to play centrally and kept Nasri on the right where he was doing well. This was a noticable change from 09/10 when Wenger would often use Nasri centrally and Rosicky out wide.

Nela got it right Gus. Nasri performed less well though when Wengie put him on the left to make room for Walcott in the starting XI.

Well I stand corrected then Nels, I prefer Nasri in the center where I think he'd be a good replacement for Fabregas- if he goes.

Nasri lacks the vision and speed of thought to play there IMO. He often doesn´t see runs, and he holds on to the ball way to long when playing in the middle. He slows our already slow attacking build up down even further.

Whether he's improves City or not is irrelevant - we will be worse for losing him.

FFS Rex he's only 24, he'll get a lot better.

That surprises me from you Biggus because Nasri centrally, is a lot like Hleb. Great technique, keeps the ball well, looks pretty. But ultimately he doesn't take innitiative to make things happen largelly because of the things Rex mentioned. If your focus is just posession and keeping the ball without getting the type of penetration and quick attacks/counters to make us more efficient, then Nasri is your man for the central role.

I think Nasri could be brilliant in that central role, but he'd need to start being a lot more selfish.

I'm talking about when he plays centrally. When he played on the right he was excellent and scoring like never before.

So what do people think?
That it would be ok to sell Nasri to City because he's not going to make a significant difference to their chances of winning a title and that we can't afford to turn down whatever sum they offer?
That we'll replace him with a player of equal quality or better who will perform to the same standard with immediate effect?

I don't believe any of that.
