I would be delighted if Barcelona spunked £30m up the wall on Bale. Would make my summer.

He'd be a good signing for them. Would give the, the pace and power they sorely lack. Bale to Barca, that is. I wish we'd manged to buy him. He's a handful

As a left back it might be a worthwhile signing, as a left winger - he would be hilariously out of place, and out of his depth.

He's a good player (at left wing or left back imo), but for what he'd cost and considering that Barcelona can have anyone they want more or less, he'd be a ridiculous signing.

And he definitely wouldn't be bringing anything to the table that Barcelona 'sorely lack'.

He's a good player, but not a Barcelona player. Nowhere close.

Maybe if he puts in more hours on the training ground though hey Ricky?

He's twice the player of anyone they have at leftback and thus would improve them. It doesn't matter what anyone thinks his actual level of ability is.

😆

He better giving up sleeping 8 hours a day in that case.

We're talking about the same team here? The one with the fastest forward and right-back in the world?

Bale´s main strength is his crossing. Who is he going to cross the ball to at Barcelona?

Same people that Alves crosses to.

True. Do you think Bale could hack it though playing against teams that defend deep and don´t really give much space to work with? Part of why Bale is so good for Spuds IMO, is because teams don´t really take Tottenham as seriously as they should.

From the 'free' fullback role at Barcelona? Certainly. Not from left wing forward.

Hmm. Is it just me who doesn´t particularly rate monkey boy as a defender?

He doesn't need to defend at Barcelona. Well not in the way that he would have to at Spurs anyway.

Put it this way, if Alves moved to Spurs at 20-21, Harry would have turned him into a winger too.

I find it funny that a lot of people who refuse to watch Spurs play are able to come out with very strong statements about their players. Watch video of even yesterday's game. Bale has impressive ability to just power past defenders, and he creates a lot of goal-scoring chances. He is NOT yet good enough to be considered for one of the front six positions, but he would be starting left back without much difficulty.

Funny you can come to the conclusion that he can "start left back without much difficulty" and yet you've probably never seen him play left back!

We all know exactly what Gareth Bale plays like, I'm sure there's not a member on here that hasn't seen him play at least 10 times, many more in most cases. And general consensus seems to be he could be exciting as an attacking left back, so could Stewart Downing for the record, but is quite a long way off the standard needed to play in his actual position for them.

That's mostly because his 'actual position' doesn't exist at Barcelona.
