Madrid ruined him

He ruined himself. If you're going to talk shit about Arsenal, and head off to a Madrid, you better be the business. Sure, he had injuries, but he never managed to hold down a place, and was constantly behind a man called Lass in the rotation. 😆

He talked shit bout us?

Ashley Young is having medical at United.

Gotta disagree. Watch him shine next season. Even a better suit for them than their very effective Valencia. Very accurate crossing and freekick merchant mind you.

I can't find the quotes right now, but I remember him saying he needed to go to a big club, and that is why he was choosing Madrid vs going to Arsenal. Not sure how much he has left in the tank, but if he can regai his 2008 form, then he would be worth looking into as a sub for Song.

cant blame him for choosing madrid over us - he was integral to them winning their last league title

Urh, he was really poor for Monaco so I wouldn't bother

who will they drop to accomodate him? rooney or hernandez?

Giggs Nani Valencia?

he's not as good as nani or valencia - they're splashing £20m on him when they need a central playmaker. I repeat - shit signing.

Much the same level as Nani and Valencia, for me, good player, but not in the top bracket.

Young won´t make Man U stronger - would have been perfect for us.

Nani is definetely a lot better than Young.

If Young is their main addition, I can't say I'm that intimidated. He'll suit United though. Cross, cross, cross, score the occasional goal, cross, cross, cross.

I don't think there's much at all between the two of them. Nani is flavour of the month right now though.

Why do you all assume that his level won't go up when he goes to ManU?

If you're asking me the question, then I don't think he has enough ability to play at a much better level than what he currently does. He'll get more acclaim for doing exactly what he does at Villa, much like Valencia, but I don't think he'll step up and become a top player. He's a good Premier League player, that's it for me.

Young did not have a playmaker or a striker who could make him more effective at Aston Villa.
If United bring in a Snjeider or similar playmaker, then there is less playmaking responsibility on his shoulders, and the ability to play more on the last man's shoulder and exploit his speed. Even without Sneijder, the ageing Giggs/Rooney can still provide that.

Rooney is also a much more complete striker than Bent, and will find ways to play Young in more, and do more 1-2s with him. Young will be better at United because he should have more complementary players around him.

He's going to tear up the champs league next season.

Young is an excellent player IMO. The reason I said he won´t make Man U stronger is that they already have quality players in Valencia and Nani in his position. He will make them stronger regarding depth, but realistically Fungus will only play 2 out of those 3 at the same time.
