It's all the money they get from winning things

De Gea, Jones and Ash Young dont make them a significantly tougher proposition, though.

that's the funny bit, yet i wind up my united supporting mates saying stuff like "fuckin hell you're blowing everyone out of the water - you'll be unstoppable"

I think their more-or-less completed signings are important for preventing decline. You have to remember the position they are starting from. We need to improve. They largely need to prevent decline above all else.

What's happening with the Young deal anyway? It's all gone a bit quiet. Maybe they're putting Ash Young on the backburner while they go for Sanchez?

Personal issues if rumour is to be believed.

Hope it falls through and we sign him.

well barca have opened talks with udinse for sanchez - rather he goes there than united

SSN say Spurs have rejected Β£22m bid from Chelski for Modric.

Eto'o wants to move to the premierleague. Anybody interested? πŸ˜‰

nah, not good enough. we need super, super quality

Straight to ManCity for Β£300k per week.

The players United are being linked to aren't too much of a worry. Jones and Varane are ones for the future, Modric is a Nasri-like fanny prone to disappearing acts, and Young is solid but unspectacular. I can't see them being significantly stronger than last year, considering their outgoing personnel. Out of the big clubs I'm most worried about what City will do.

I lke Modric. I think he's quality. But I do think that he is sometimes overrated. I certainly would not break the bank over him.

One of the best CMs in the league last season although it, admittedly, wasn't a great season for that particular position.

Think maybe he's underestimated by some because he plays for Spurs and has a certain look about him.
I'd rate him quite highly.
He's technically good (bit of a cliche these days) and he passes well - he'd probably suit United as he could feed their attacking wide players and dictate the pace of the game?

I think they are pulling a Berbatov. Again, a fantastic player, but not one who should be going for the 30m or so that United would probably end up paying.
I guess the price does not really matter though because United have spent more on each of Nani, Rooney, Ferdinand, Hargreaves, Carrick, Valencia, and Berbatov (and Young, De Gaea) than we have ever spent on a single player.

I hope he goes to Chelsea. If he goes to Manure they would have a hell of a team.

Meanwhile Liverpool is signing Zapata

Malaga has completed the signing of Toulalan for fee rising up till 13m euros. Think the initial fee was 5 or 6m.

They also signed Mathisen, Argentinian wonderkid Buonanotte and the wonder leftback Monreal.

Lol. He couldn't get more rat like if he tried

hey lads have you noticed how girls who own horses turn out looking like them.

Weird Liverpool isn't in for him.

He isnΒ΄t English enough for Pool...

the heck?

This can't be true can it?

OptaJoe RT: @oilysailor Alberto Aquilani has provided more Premier League assists (6) than Luka Modric (5) since August 2009.

Well if it's from Twitter it must be......

Just looked it up on ESPNSoccernet and it's actually true.

I rate Modric highly, but I thought he would have been much more directly involved in the final pass. Puts into perspective just how good Cesc was at a such a young age.

Btw, I just realized Aquilani is still a Liverpool player. Weird.

Yep and Almunia Denilson and Rosicky are still Arsenal ones....The whacky world of football.

Toulalan is one of those players whose name is always bandied around but he hasn't done much of late. Hasn't been picked in the Ligue 1 team of the year for the last four seasons. I'm not even sure he's a midfielder anymore. I watched Lyon in Ligue 1 a handful of times last season and he spent all of them playing as a centreback.

Cesc is a phenom, I wish Arsenal fans would remember that more often. It's similar to what you mentioned noticing about the Bolton fans not rating Gary Cahill - I think they know he's going some time soon, he's come out and said so, and so they underrate his ability as a way of shifting the feeling when they depart from anger and sadness to almost a sigh of relief.

Even this season, with all his injury troubles, Cesc was still comfortably the most creative player in Europe in terms of minutes/assist, minutes/chance created.

Modric is a decent player, in fact he's better than that. He's a good player. However he plays the same role as Jack and not as well. For United or Chelsea it'd be Β£30m well spent but he's a player we have an abundance of.

Unsung hero. Always does all the dirty work for the team. He has played a couple of times at CB because Lyon's options sucked and is always injured as well. Proved he is versatile.
