It's all the money they get from winning things

De Gea, Jones and Ash Young dont make them a significantly tougher proposition, though.

that's the funny bit, yet i wind up my united supporting mates saying stuff like "fuckin hell you're blowing everyone out of the water - you'll be unstoppable"

I think their more-or-less completed signings are important for preventing decline. You have to remember the position they are starting from. We need to improve. They largely need to prevent decline above all else.

What's happening with the Young deal anyway? It's all gone a bit quiet. Maybe they're putting Ash Young on the backburner while they go for Sanchez?

Personal issues if rumour is to be believed.

Hope it falls through and we sign him.

well barca have opened talks with udinse for sanchez - rather he goes there than united

SSN say Spurs have rejected £22m bid from Chelski for Modric.

Eto'o wants to move to the premierleague. Anybody interested? 😉

nah, not good enough. we need super, super quality

Straight to ManCity for £300k per week.

The players United are being linked to aren't too much of a worry. Jones and Varane are ones for the future, Modric is a Nasri-like fanny prone to disappearing acts, and Young is solid but unspectacular. I can't see them being significantly stronger than last year, considering their outgoing personnel. Out of the big clubs I'm most worried about what City will do.

I lke Modric. I think he's quality. But I do think that he is sometimes overrated. I certainly would not break the bank over him.

One of the best CMs in the league last season although it, admittedly, wasn't a great season for that particular position.

Think maybe he's underestimated by some because he plays for Spurs and has a certain look about him.
I'd rate him quite highly.
He's technically good (bit of a cliche these days) and he passes well - he'd probably suit United as he could feed their attacking wide players and dictate the pace of the game?
