Anyway on your Eze stuffing think this is a move that has Eze, or maybe just how we play without Ode, in mind. Rice just isn't a creative passer and he needs partners in midfield who balance that. Eze wants to be found by those guys, he's more of a classic 10 than Ode so when you have Rice and Eze in midfield you need a really strong creative passer with them.

Excited to see him in action for us. He also assisted Vini a lot during the WC...could be another little plus in our favour for that move.

What about the wages? I miss the days when we used to get transfer TCOs updated in terms of fee plus 5 yrs of wages. These days the vibe is all about amortisation and book profits.

they've learned their lesson to not drag out things and got some good young hungry players

Gunner89 Howe walking out looked to me like he was as clueless about the Bruno stuff as the Toon ITKs. The signs were there when Trafford picked Leeds over them too. A lot of worrying signs about how that club is being run from the top.

Qwiss Yeah, I read up on this and it seems like Joorabchian was talking directly to the owners. The oil prices have been insane since the war started which is causing them to dump the Newcastle project. Nothing the people at the club can do about it, except quitting with their dignity intact, like Howe did.

Then again most of them have a job precisely because they have no dignity so why would they care. They deserve this, unprincipled and horrid lot they are.

Obviously disliked him as he was always a bit of a thug against us but can't hurt to have him on our side instead of injuring our players. Makes midfield look stacked which should help not running players into the ground.

That's affecting them, but they've been far less interested in the whole concept since the SPL spending took off a few years ago and Amanda Staveley was pushed out. One of the Saudi clubs has just won the Asian CL again, and PIF has got enough partners for any European money laundering that needs to get done. Quite likely they sell Newcastle over time, they bought the wrong club.

It's interesting that so many midfielders have moved this summer by the way: Fernandes, Tonali, Anderson, Bruno... different profiles, but they're all very good and have commanded big transfer fees.

I feel Anderson is the best of the lot but Bruno probably improves us the most. Not a lot between most of them in terms of quality - Fernandes is on the lower end maybe compared to the others - but we got the one that has huge leadership qualities in addition to his ability, and those are invaluable.

Klaus Fernandes is also the youngest of them. Better signing than Tonali IMO. Both solid mids, not sure how they'll fit together at Spurs though. Quite similar.

Qwiss It's a bit typical Spurs isn't it. They have no good idea about how to play so there's nothing to inform their buying, they're just trying to get in on the big business in the market. Last year they needed a 10 badly and ended up with a bang average winger instead who ended up rupturing his ACL for good measure.

Also, it must be humiliating for Manchester United that all these midfielders have been moving in a window where United need a completely new midfield, and they have been interested in all of them but none wanted to go there.

We have the best goalkeeper, defenders and midfield in the league.

Burnwinter Wrong league too I'd say. Things are much tougher and much more expensive in England, and there's already the City project which has a two decade headstart at this point.

If they want European glory the best club to acquire would probably be Ajax or something, they have the history and the grandeur but their domestic league is rotten. You could easily build a Dutch PSG there with enough resources.

Burnwinter I think once PSR stopped them turning quickly into the next Man City they started to lose interest in a long term project. Villa starting to look similar but not quite has severe.

Gurgen Could have said the same about Ligue 1 about 12-13 years ago though! I didn't believe PSG would manage to attract guys like Zlatan and Neymar, but they did after building up to it with the likes of Cavani and Luiz. I think the same would happen in Eredivisie eventually (not that I advocate for more oil money).

anyone who wants to play in a stacked squad that is built for the champions league and you can be rested for half the league games and protect your body while still getting paid like a top premier leaguer. a weak league is not a handicap if you buy the players, it's a bonus.
