RowJimmy I do think havertz sometimes good into these times where he plays for fouls which is very frustrating.. He had one recently I can't remember the game exactly but he was going through and would have been clear but went straight for the foul. I'm this game he needed to realise that wasn't going to happen and adapt his approach.

The players at the parade were talking about coming back and doing even more next season, obviously this is what they meant. You don't reach their level without exceptional drive and they'll keep pushing. Arteta wouldn't allow them not to anyway. This team is set up for a spell at the top of the game so hopefully we'll get enough luck to get a CL over the line while we are this good.

One thing to admire about Arteta and the club is how we've managed to keep these players together and hungry over the previous few years without winning anything. The likes of Saliba, Rice, Saka could have jumped ship and persued honours elsewhere but thankfully they were fully invested into the process and thank God we won the league as I'm not sure what these players would do this summer without having won anything.

Ignoring what this guy says but that first touch is what lets him down. Unlike him because his touch is usually good, it is the finish which can be inconsistent. Elite hold up play and movement to get into the right position. Slightly heavy touch which allows Marquinhos to get a block.

JazzG it was a big chance and yeah he could have done better but strikers fuck up like this all the time. If you want a striker scoring a lot you need to present multiple chances like this.

Yeah, was right before half-time too. That and that Madueke/Martinelli screw up are the two that come back to haunt us. And the Gyokeres deflection at the end. Those were pretty much the only chances we had.

Our floor is so damn high now with the overall depth and how dominant our defensive structure is. It feels like with a little tinkering in the margins in terms of attacking philosophy/tactics and some personnel changes in the front line, we could be dominant next season. My biggest concerns are: 1) health with the World Cup shortening most of our biggest players' summers and 2) if we make some changes in terms of attacking tactics, will that have a trickle down effect on our defensive structure and poke some holes in it.

I've got complete faith in Arteta that he will figure out the balance but have prepared myself for a potential slow start or some growing pains. I don't think there's much chance of going the way Liverpool went though.

Sicario2 It's not just the world cup - it's the steady build up of load. City and Arsenal are in the same boat but Liverpool, Chelsea and United have had a relatively easy season physically speaking.

Of course I don't see Liverpool, United and Chelsea challenging but the earlier season fixture listing matters

Mirth Chelsea had the Club World Cup last year though so they've really had no breaks for two years now.

Sicario2 I agree with you to an extent. However, if one of our big players were to get injured in the WC, it will stretch us. It won't be an "excuse", but we saw this year that even the deepest team in the PL can get pushed into an injury crisis when they start accumulating in the same position.

I can almost guarantee this will happen with at least 3 players. I can already see Saka, Timber and Saliba coming back injured. It would be a complete miracle if we started the season with our full spine of the team in tact.

Gunner89 I agree but he also is the one who gets himself on the end of those chances, unlike Gyokeres who needs time and space Havertz makes things happen. His movement is elite, his touch and hold up play is elite. His finishing however can let him down.

his is an unfortunate story really, an unexpected growth spurt made him grow from generational to good

he's not the answer to our multiple trophy winning era, neither is running rice/zubi/saliba down

awooga83 If that player is available to us we should sell Gyokeres and replace him.

The problem is that type of striker is either outside our price range or simply not available, there is a real shortage of top CFs which is why even good prospects go for super high money.

The other option is to keep with what we have and introduce more goals from out wide and AM. That would be my preferred option because it gives the teams less points of failure and will make us a far better side. A few years ago our wide players and AM were chipping in with 15+ goals and that is exactly what I would like to see.

We still have those wide players and AM. It's just that we changed soke of the players behind them as well as our style of play.

Big Willie Champ A lot changed actually. We had Zinchenko who was playing as a deep lying playmaker popping balls through the lines for run, Xhaka playing box to box and Partey also moving forward at every chance. White bombing up to support Saka. Jesus and Martinelli linking up and Odegaard in the middle of all this. I think Saka has kept his level up but Odegaard and Martinelli definitely haven't.
