DiabyKungFu yeah Odegaard was bright. We had good possession and territory with him pulling the strings. Got into good positions often. He combined well with Dowman. He’s probably our second best performer on the day even if wasn’t a classic performance.

Sorry if it came across as that. Wasn't my intention. Probably just the frustration boiling over.

Anyway, I disagree. His passing, apart from a long ball to Martinelli, was his usual short layoffs to the guy standing besides him. The one attempted through-ball I can remember was so hilariously over-hit it didn't even make me sad.

I'd have taken him scoring that relatively easy chance instead of all that 25minutes of camping.

Maybe I am too harsh on him, but I really can't stand his game. Arteta was probably right to make him the captain because his game sums up the entire team- a lot of hustle and bustle, fancy stuff here and there, but when it comes to the final pass or shot, too scared to take it or just fluffs his lines in spectacular fashion.

We played our old 3-2-5 gameplan with Norgaard and Lewis-Skelly as the 2. We had chances to score some more goals, though.

Felt to me that we lacked urgency and moved the ball too slowly.

Jesus was poor and contributed to our ineffectiveness going forward.

We lack a livewire - most of our attacking talent relies on physicality.

I thought Ödegaard was our best player too and shouldn't have been taken off; Havertz should have walked for Zubi and Jesus for Gyökeres in hindsight. It's hard to know what kind of fitness state Martin is in though. The big argument for pooling our transfer money on a midfielder this summer is precisely that Ödegaard is a permacrock while no one else in the squad is fit to lace the boots of Rice and Zubimendi.

Some positives from today were: 1) Dowman is a very dangerous dribbler, 2) Gyökeres scored a good goal to keep his ongoing streak (we're going to need this midweek), 3) Ödegaard was finding passes between the lines, and 4) with some luck this was the last time we will ever have to watch Kepa in an Arsenal shirt.

The big negative was the general attitude of these players, but Arteta also has to be able to motivate them better. Granted that might be hard when you don't take the selection for a cup final seriously and then end up losing it. It's been amateur hour all around for the last two games.

Now go beat Sporting in Lisbon and prove you're better than this.

Klaus it annoys me that we started with Ode and Max tearing it up but we'd no striker to capitalise. He's playing Jesus out of nothing more than loyalty to him. The guy shouldn't even be here. He hasn't been useful for 2 years now. Our press was killing them before the goal but Jesus doesn't even run. Soon as Gyok came on their keeper felt pressure for the first time all game.

Sporting will be a test because anyone looking at us right now would fancy it. We just look generally fragile and even if we have food moments like the spell today we just waste too many and haven't got any reliable goalscorers.

Well that's 2 out of 4 gone. CL next in the week. Bottlers FC forever. No doubt some will say "it's only the cups it doesn't matter to the league" etc but the 2 performances in a row have been dire. We look like we don't know how to get over the line when it matters and pressure increases ten fold for me now with yet more trophies conceded. It feels like everything is slipping away now. Can't see anything other than another collapse in the league. This team doesn't have it in them.

Love the FA Cup, so bitterly disappointed. The Cup to give up on early and test the 2nd string even in the latter stages, was the one we got to the final of and lost. We might have had a slightly better points cushion in the League now and/ or played more first teamers in the FA Cup. December and January were brutal for this squad. It is amazing we were contesting in 4 competitions in March. Need to dust this off and go hard for 12 matches this season.

I don't care about this, as long as Gabriel is not out for long, it's all good. Odegaard got some game time, thats also very important.

Just beat Bournemouth, thats all I care about, fuck the CL as well, while we are at it. This team needs a big win or they are done, they are never coming back if we miss out again, same goes for Arteta.
So just focus on the league, that would have been the smart thing to do with both internal cups this season, but what can you do. There is no doubt in my mind, had we gone out in the first round in the FA Cup and first in the league cup, we would have had more points won in the league, and would have the league title wrapped up.

Beat Bournemouth, then we get a free hit vs City, then beat Newcastle and it's done. Now that we are out of the cup, we don't have to play Newcastle 3 days after City, but 7, that's a huge win in my book.

That's where I am now too. Realistically the chance of this team winning a 2 leg playoff against Barcelona or Athletico and then a final against any of the other 4 teams are less than remote. The 7 league games are more important.

The most worrying thing is not that we look like we don't know how to get over the line, but that after coming close so many times we look like we don't believe we can.
