Big Willie Champ yeah just seems odd to give up watching/support. Would you rather be back down in 8th and out of Europe or be where Spurs are?
What I will probably do is go on Mugabe media lockdown for the summer and lay off the social media, forums and podcasts to take a break from reading/talking/hearing about it but will never give up watching. It's bad enough getting to work on Monday morning and having a Southampton and Chelsea fan laugh at me as I get out of the lift - it's as if they had been standing there waiting for me to arrive. Must be worse for those more local who would have workplaces full of rival fans!

Can you really be bothered to sit through another season of Arteta? If we are top in Nov there will be zero excitement as we know we will bottle it in the spring. What’s the point of reading a book if you know the ending?

He has to win the title or I can see a lot giving up season tickets etc (I go to matches and have a good sense of this when speaking to ppl).

I posted about this recently but yeah, can't say I agree at all. After twenty years without a league title in which my fidelity to Arsenal has remained in the face of far more adverse conditions, while many of my other values have undergone transformation, I'm not foreseeing losing interest if we experience another setback here, as bitter a pill to swallow as that would be.

You talk a good game but now you're passing cheques that will bounce, a fair feat in these times. If we lose you'll be back after having a good cry about it, just like the rest of us.

I don't know, I'm pretty negative (one of the 'no' voters in the other thread). But I'd still rather be close than nowhere. If you keep getting this close in the league and to the latter stages of the cups, surely eventually you get one.

If we don’t win this year the only way to energise the fans will be to get someone like Enrique in otherwise there will be a lot of toxicity and Arteta out banners next season. Basically like the end of Wenger days without having anything to show for.

Anyway let’s see what develops this season.

It must be mathematically impossible for someone to reach semi finals and finals and finish runners up so often and to not eventually win something or a few. Is there anyone in any sport that has been such a serial runner up without ever getting over the line?

I was looking into this and Klopp lost a ton of finals and finished runners up many times but he also won a few. Arteta is not Klopp but I find it hard to believe that he won't eventually do it - even if it takes some more time.

Each to their own regarding support. Personally I felt much closer to wanting to stop supporting the club when they kept playing Partey. If we finish second again, which I now think we will, it will hurt a hell of a lot, but I'll watch again next year. And each year until I die I guess. It's basically a disease.
