Smaller clubs have to do this. And btw, there are a dozens of smaller clubs care can cherry pick the bets they got right and ignore their failures. It doesn’t make sense for us to replicate the systems small clubs have. We need to focus on acquiring and taking care of elite players

JazzG people also need to realise we can't go out and sign Monga and offer him bigger wages than Max. That sends a signal to players and its not a good one. Monga might go on to be the next Rooney or he might go on and be the next Jay Emanuel Thomas, probably somewhere in between but so what? You can't just go breaking your wage structure willy nilly. When it matters we cough up whats needed. I reckon we'll make some seriously big signing before August and people will be very happy.

Anyway I always felt it'd be hard for us to bring through Max and Monga at the same time.

Meatwad i've come to the conclusion that 20+ years without a league title has damaged some us permanently where we have to be in a constant state of anger about the way this club moves.

One thing that annoys me is that if we don't sign three available midfielders for example—let's say Fernandes, Tonali and Guimarães—these morons act as if we've failed three times instead of possibly having missed just one opportunity. Every player who doesn't play for Arsenal is experienced as a loss to be mourned.

I think incomings of Konsa, Guimaraes and Barcola or Rogers would address our key needs

Those being
1) cover for Saliba and rightback
2) ability to rest Rice
3) xfactor in attack and ability to rest Saka or Odegaard

Merino is terriric. Extremely good off the ball, strong in challenges, scores goals, and is technically very sound. He should play a lot more.

Have to think Merino might be moving if we sign Bruno though. I don't know if he'd want to be the third choice in two positions.

Personally I'm really warming to the Bruno rumours. Have to think we'd get 4 years out of him at least barring injuries, and what's comforting is that he doesn't have any pace to lose so I don't see him falling off a cliff anytime soon. If we can get it done for 60-65 million it's probably the best value for money signing of the summer.

The team isn't getting any younger with that signing, but then again I don't think it should. It should be kept at its peak now. Only truly exceptional young players should get a whiff of the first team.

Klaus Merino has looked more effective further up the pitch for us (striker or #10). He’s too slow (both straight-line and turning speed) to be effective as a box-to-box/double-pivot. He’s better up front with his end product. So I’m not sure Bruno affects him… but there are indeed a lot of bodies in ‘front four’ positions for us and a couple will need to go.
