Berta and or the club seem to have shifted to a Wenger style 'value for money' approach rather than 'buy the best player' possible approach. If the market presents great opportunities and we feast - then that would be great. However, we would end up pricing ourselves out of deals for better players who cost a premium. Not sure how I feel about this - we're going to end up with our 3rd/4th choice options and that's not how you build any type of dominance.

It helped us last summer as it secured the floor of the squad but now we need to raise the ceiling. Being linked with Alex Scott sums up how low down the list we are exploring, he's as average as it gets.

Is this a shift? Think that was the same approach he took last summer. More opportunistic/value opportunity than long-term target. There are pros and cons to both and ideally I think you want a bit of both, so hopefully we'll see a blend.

Agreed. We need Bouaddi more than any of these others. Someone who can 80% of what Rice does for at least 30-35% of games is essential to ensure Rice doesn’t go the Saka / Ode way of falling off a cliff physically after 2-3 seasons.
