Gazza M If they bargained at that price it would be a win on value despite my reservations, but since they won't, it still successfully puts the Arsenal cat right amongst the pigeons. I appreciate the Berta way, he seems to like making moves that succeed even if they fail.

Rice and Guimares would be excellent. It's what I wanted us to do this summer (but I had a different player of a similar age in mind - Ruiz) to come in and play in MLS's position for a few seasons before our boy steps up and fully owns the spot in 2 or 3 years time.

It makes sense. Raises the floor at 6 too as it'll put Zubi behind Rice.

I'm all for it and hope we get it done.

TambourineMan I'm with you. This team is in its winning window, and is best team in England. We need to ensure we win so much we can't take it anymore. And then we can deal with resetting afterwards. But the age profiles of Raya, Gabriel, Rice, etc., speak to winning in the next 3 years. Guimares can be part of that story.

I am guessing he is seen as the 'perfect backup' for Rice. PL proven etc A pragmatic signing if we pull it off. 50-60 mill will look like chump change if he is able to give us 2-3 good seasons and we pick up a CL/PL trophy along the way.
