I would think about it more in terms of who'd start in which matches.
The trouble with Eze in the squad is that he won't be the effective and relatively metronomic rotation midfielder we need to take on lesser opposition either.
It's also a trouble with the relative inexperience of Arteta, whose reluctance so far to build a squad he can use to win every match, instead of just any given match, is the debt our need for squad renewal will struggle to pay.
To overcome the lazy stars of PSG we'll need a functional and trusted B lineup which doesn't need the likes of Rice, Saka, Ødegaard, Gabriel, Timber, Calafiori to be in the XI.
So our next signings need to have a starter mentality, room to grow as footballers, and the professionalism to ride the pine on big occasions until the stars that just won us the league are ready for succession.
We do that, then we get the three years of uninjured quality we need from our current senior players, we get the long-termist manager capable of using his whole squad, and we get a stack of major trophies. If we don't, we get another parcel of luxury options who won't be viable for the real work later.
In this light, figuring out Nwaneri's future becomes far more urgent. He's either already fit and trusted to run out for our B lineup as he wasn't last season, or he needs a proper loan that gets him there, or he needs to be moved on. Our midfield options Nwaneri, Ødegaard, Merino, Zubimendi and Eze all need to be ruthlessly evaluated and I'd like to see any two of these turned over.
