I'm divided on this one.
On one side, I did like the growth that Gyokeres made over the season and also liked how we were utilizing him during the run in. I could definitely see him having a more productive season this year and would not have any issue with us keeping him and rotating him, Kai and Merino as our central striker.
On the other hand, I do still feel like he limits our ceiling with his own limitations on the ball and in matches both against top opposition and against stubborn low blocks where space is at a premium. His hold up play improved but I don't think it will ever be a strength. His finishing and ball striking are elite but he also takes too much time to generate space for a shot. He also is weak in the air despite his frame. Personally, I feel like Alvarez is just a better fit for how we want to play and he has more of an X factor quality that shines against top opposition. However, if he is truly dead set on Barca then I would need to be very confident that this is where he wants to be and we aren't just going to be dealing with him twerking for Barca for the next few summers. IF we could get that guarantee, a transfer of Gyokeres plus no more than 50/60m (and even that is pushing it a bit) would be a great move to me.
We would have ball striking for days if we added Alvarez and Rogers, along with Eze, Saka and Rice. This is something I have been begging for over the last few years as I think it's a get out of jail free card that City and Liverpool have exploited for the last 5 years consistently to steal points.
