I modelled our players' apparent trajectories for myself and concluded it'd be prudent to move on either one or two of Ødegaard, Merino, Eze and maybe even Zubimendi for the right offer this summer. Not exactly rocket science but if not now, we'll need to flip these players more in the next windows.

MistaT I know people are excited by Dowman and Nwaneri, but I just don't see the balance in their games that would let Arteta trust them. So are we counting on Eze to transform into an Odegaard replacement, or for a shift to more adventurous 8's with Morgan Rogers and Eze?

I don't think there is an Ødegaard replacement, and it's not even Ødegaard. Eze definitely isn't it. Seeing Wirtz struggle in England after we were told he was miles better ought to give people an idea.

Pushing for the title has left us a bit overdue for renewal. We need a big summer with at least three signings across the front six: two "stay on top" (Tonali, Rogers could be) and one or two for the future (Bouaddi, Nwaneri). I reckon the Monga link is a Berta smokescreen.

Martinelli should be sold due to his contract. Then it's which of the four midfielders up top truly offers the balance of leadership, quality and personality that merits hitting 30 at Arsenal. Merino is 30 in a week by the way.

All that before we get to the fact we probably need a couple of defenders in.

Burnwinter I've definitely read some rumors that we are open to moving on Odegaard this summer if the right offer came in. I personally think it should be something we at least consider. On his day, he's an incredible player but those days seem to be far less frequent right now.

I also read comments that Zubimendi was homesick for a good portion of the season. If that is the case and continues, I'd imagine we would look to move him on too.

Think we may be, there was certainly a load of noise in winter. Newcastle are a weird club as well, they're being run by international playboys who aren't having any fun doing it.

Burnwinter the winter noise was that he was offered to us. These are the details that make me think he's not what we are after. He offers nothing in attack really. His build up is far from elite. He's a lesser Rice in almost every way and his price doesn't justify signing him for us. If you're United, Spurs, etc and want a Rice type but can't get a worldy version sure he's a decent signing. He's a floor raiser here and we'd enough of that last summer. We need ceiling raisers in midfield and attack if we're making those signings.

Klaus -- I too like the idea of Saka as our right 8. Think he'd be great there, and I would trust him to elevate a number of surrounding positions (RWF, left 8, 6, etc.). Playing there would also let him open up his body for shots earlier/easier!

That's too much midfield change for me.

Tonali, Scott, Bouaddi are all downgrades over Zubi and Ode.

The only way Ode is leaving is if he wants to go, which means a) that's there's somewhere he'd rather live than London, and b) someone is willing to pay us a lot of money and also pay him significantly more money than we are. Who is that? City? We wouldn't sell. Liverpool? He'd do them a lot of good, but he'd have to live in Liverpool. Bayern's model is to pay high wages but not transfer fees. I suppose he could go back to Madrid, but I can't see Mourinho using him well. PSG and Barça don't need him.

The only player on the roster who we might actually push out (the way we pushed Auba out, that is, by buying out his contract) is Jesus. Anyone else who leaves will be leaving because the player wants more money or more playing time. Trossard might leave for a multiyear contract whereas we'll probably only offer a one year renewal. But he might also decide to play that year and leave on a free. The idea that we're turning over 4 or 5 positions is absolute fantasy.

To be clear, I'm completely fine with only letting Norgaard go from our midfield options. I don't think we need to move on Odegaard or Zubimendi but was just passing along rumors I'd seen. The only way I would be okay with moving on Odegaard would be if we had the opportunity to get someone like Guler. I would not feel good if we moved on Odegaard and had Eze, Rogers and Saka as attacking midfield options since I think Odegaard is the only one we have who can provide the control we need in certain game states.

Barcola, Rogers, Bouaddi would be a great window for me. Anything additional to that would just be crazy but not completely unrealistic. Looking forward to following the twists and turns over the next month and a half.

QuincyAbeyie I’m a fan of Rogers so I’d have a hard time passing up a proven PL star and a roll of the dice on a potentially game breaking attacker in Barcola. But I do really like Diomande. I think I’d go Rogers and Barcola though.

Qwiss yeah which is why I want us to sign a different profile of 8 (or 6), especially when you have a player like Barcola on the wing as well.

I feel we need a Vitinha type of profile somewhere.

lorddulaarsenal he's awful defensively though, other than pressing and organising from the front.
