Gazza M I doubt there'll be too much change. We are the champions and easily the best team in England, close in Europe. I think we will only see tweaks and hopefully some personnel improvements. Arteta wont rearrange things dramatically to accommodate someone like Kroupi.

This seems fanciful to me. I think we will go into next season with Rice, Odegaard or Eze, and Zubimendi or MLS as our starting midfield in most games.

Qwiss if we want to play a false 9 we'd need to change dramatically and would probably have to change AM and LW a lot to facilitate it.

IMO we've looked best over the last 3 years with either Jesus or Havertz playing as a false nine. It was using Gyokeres as a true nine that caused us all sorts of adjustment issues.
A big part of the initial enthusiasm about Gyokeres came from people who disliked how we play and were hoping that a true nine would mean a different play style (more vertical etc.). I'd prefer to see us recruit players who fit with how we actually play rather than ones that require us to rearrange the whole team.

We won the league with Gyokeres as the 9. And its not like before he came in our wingers were racking up goals. Martinelli had a good year, as did Ode but that was before teams started respecting us and playing a low block. Anyway I don't think you can compare what Havertz does to what you'd get from Kroupi.

Qwiss I like this perspective. I would like to see changes that make us less predictable. More ball playing fullbacks. And another exciting forward. I like the idea of Kroupi given his potential upside.

I think we’re moving toward 4-4-2 — something like Kroupi off Havertz would be excellent.

I am going to be surprised if Kroupi moves this summer. I think he stays another year with them in Europe and then they capitalize on him next summer.

I hated him when he first got to Madrid since he seemed like everything that was going wrong with younger footballers with his very curated public persona and grooming to be a professional football player but I have to admit that Endrick has grown on me. He looked really good at Lyon and would add a lot of unpredictability to the team. I'd be interested in bringing him in if Madrid is looking to part ways. I love how we are going after good ball strikers, as its been my theory that part of City and Liverpool's success over the last decade has been the vast array of plus ballstrikers they had in their squads to break a game open with low xG opportunities. Bringing in Rogers and Kroupi/Endrick would continue in the mold we started last summer with Eze and Gyokeres.

As we think about young players, worth considering their success rates. Take a look at the Guardian’s picks for best young players 10 years ago. Most years on their list are similar

2 things stand out. First, list is filled with folks I’ve never heard of. Players who should be hitting their peak. Second, the best player born in 1999 is completely missing. Declan Rice.

QuincyAbeyie looking at the market and who's likely available I'm not seeing a ton of really exciting signings that could hit the ground running but he is definitely one. He's a really smart player and could improve on Trossard immediately. I think people are a bit wary cos Eze didn't work out really on the left but they are very different players despite being positionally similar. I was always wary of Eze on the left but I think Rodgers is much better when he's played out there than Eze is. He's also coming from a better side, used to being favourites in matches, playing in Europe, etc and I think this summer is the perfect time to sign him.

Of our realistic targets he's top of my list at the moment.

Seems like the hottest rumors are focused on Rogers and Tonali now. I may have some slightly different preferences when it comes to Tonali but he's still a very good player and I love how we are shopping at the top of the market. If I were a rival fan, I would certainly be disappointed that we continue to look to add top quality depth and aren't resting on our laurels.

Assuming that Rogers plays LW predominantly in the Trossard role, I still think we need another forward and judging by our interest in Alvarez and Kroupi, it seems like Arteta and Berta agree. I hope that we consider Endrick. I can't believe I'm saying that as I was a big hater of his when he first came to Madrid - seemed to have all the trappings of the modern young prodigy that had been groomed to be a footballer with the ego to match. But this season has really changed my mind - he looked phenomenal on the pitch at Lyon and some of his interviews off the pitch stunned me with his maturity and intelligence. If Madrid is looking to move him on, I'd love to see if we can get him to replace Jesus.

I largely agree with Qwiss. My top picks would be Kroupi and Rogers for the LW/SS role from the current lot. Would also want to see Godts come in as the second attacking signing with Nwaneri coming back from loan. Can transition Ode, Tross and Marti out. In MF, my top choice would be Fernandes, failing which we should be all over Lamine Camara in my view. In hindsight, it’s amazing we were able to get Zubi for a little over 50M.

Yildiz, Kvaratskhelia and Nico Paz are the top tier but near impossible to attain players.

Plenty of alternatives out there.

To be honest I’d be chuffed to bring in any of the following

Kroupi
Barcola
Maza
Trincao
Tonali
Rayan

lorddulaarsenal I’d be fine with everyone bar Rayan and Trincao. We don’t need another right winger and Bournemouth isn’t going to sell Rayan. And I just don’t think Trincao is that good and don’t want to buy more attackers from the Portuguese league.
