Klaus I think there is definitely another level we can get to when it comes to the attack. Part of that will hopefully come organically with better health/fitness for Saka, Odegaard and Havertz. All three are players that yesterday’s celebrations show are integral to the culture Arteta has built in the club but also are very unique players. We need them to be more available so adding an attacker or two that are close to their level and also will fit in with the team culture is something I believe we need. We saw how many times we had to roll out the Martinelli-Gyokeres-Madueke lineup this season and how ineffective they looked for large swaths. I’m bullish on Gyokeres’s growth over the season as an admitted hater in the early part. I think we can improve on the two others but Madueke is going to be tough to move. Adding an upgrade to Martinelli’s skill set as a pacy width holder with goals in them looks to be an opportunity this summer. And then adding a Swiss Army knife attacker like Jesus who can play across the frontline and add goals in the XI or off the bench is something that will ideally increase the margins this season. This summer needs to be about reinforcing at the fringes to increase our margin of error this upcoming season. Turning some of these one goal wins into 3 goal wins would do wonders to squad rotation possibilities (and our own nerves).

Klaus — Arteta needs to also better manage his squad. We saw some unnecessary lineups in the FA, EFL and late Champs games.

There were serious issues with how Arteta rotated Timber and White, and I think MLS and Norgaard both could have played another 2-3 games (each) in midfield.

MLS is the clearest example that Arteta needs to learn how to manage his squad. you don't go from not playing to starting in midfield in CL semis and critical league games during squeaky bum time because you magically got better that week. come on, he could have been playing as mid in january.

Klaus we're pretty stacked at CB, especially with Salmon leaping into the fray. If he could play right back, maybe, but I don't think he can.

Klaus No. He's great on his day but very inconsistent. He's not close to good enough on the ball either. Mosquera is a much better player already.

TambourineMan sounds reasonable to me. As well as a few reinforcements in the market I really want to see a path for Ethan and Max in the squad. If anything this week has just shown how much it matters to have real Arsenal DNA in the squad.

RocktheCasbah we've been saying this about Jesus for a while. At the end of the day he has a contract and we need someone else to come in for him if we want him to go. I wouldn't expect a fee for him but we may even end up having to supplement is wages for a year to move him on. I wouldn't mind loaning him out even.

I think hoping we are significantly less impacted by injury in a season after a World Cup is quite ambitious. I hope that too but I'm not expecting it to happen.

banduan It does read like a goodbye message, I wouldn't be surprised if we do sell him and a part of me will be upset it didn't work out. When him and Saka broke I felt like they would both kick on, Saka kept going but Martinelli has really stalled.

What’s clear from the last few days is that these players are heavily online. They see all the criticism and memes. When we insult them and belittle them, they read it. Fortunately, we had an environment that helped them use this negativity as a fuel for trophy hunting. One has to worry for players’ mental health. I feel like Twitter and OMIT are worse than the tabloids- cos it’s your own fans and there are no guardrails on decorum.

Can't bracket a closed forum like this with X/ Twitter. It's fine for fans with all that might be going on with their life to have an outlet. The boundaries are good here. It's another thing altogether going on an open platform, tagging and abusing players and their families.

Anyone else feel we have a big enough squad and incoming might be difficult? I am not complaining and agree with Klaus that we need to keep players fit as the group is tight knit and with the right attitude more so than making too many additions.

Cannon there will definitely need to be a few major outs to accommodate any significant ins.

I think it's reasonably certain that Jesus will go and so will at least one of Trossard or Martinelli. Furthe back, I'd expect Norgaard to go and maybe White too.

So 4 first team departures and potentially 3 first team arrivals are what I'd expect to see this summer.

We can't make wholesale changes but at the same time, we can't and shouldn't stand still. We have to capitalise on the fact that we're the most spoken about club in the world at the moment. We're everywhere, on every news outlet and in every paper. Our stock has never been higher and we need to use that to our advantage this summer and recruit at the top level of the industry.

TambourineMan It's quite interesting to consider Arteta's comments when he retired 10 years ago and talked about how, to be at Arsenal, you had to be a 10/10 player every week. I think it's very clear that there are quite a few players who aren't even 7/10s every week - and haven't been for some time. I wonder how ruthless management will be in clearing those players you've named out, but it would be a travesty if someone like Gabriel Jesus is still at the club in August.
