Klaus No. He's great on his day but very inconsistent. He's not close to good enough on the ball either. Mosquera is a much better player already.

TambourineMan sounds reasonable to me. As well as a few reinforcements in the market I really want to see a path for Ethan and Max in the squad. If anything this week has just shown how much it matters to have real Arsenal DNA in the squad.

RocktheCasbah we've been saying this about Jesus for a while. At the end of the day he has a contract and we need someone else to come in for him if we want him to go. I wouldn't expect a fee for him but we may even end up having to supplement is wages for a year to move him on. I wouldn't mind loaning him out even.

banduan It does read like a goodbye message, I wouldn't be surprised if we do sell him and a part of me will be upset it didn't work out. When him and Saka broke I felt like they would both kick on, Saka kept going but Martinelli has really stalled.

yeah that one season it looked like martinelli would develop into the goalscoring winger we needed. now we don't have any.

if jesus leaves this summer it will be for free.
if ben white leaves this summer it will be for free, so why let him leave? the reason you want him gone is the reason another club won't be interested: injuries.
norgaard for a nominal fee to a club like ajax.

To be fair to Marty he scored a lot of goals this season even if they weren't in the league for the most part. Think he's well worth keeping as a 2nd or 3rd choice, but I don't know if he's happy with that role.

Klaus I still think he would have thrived in a Klopp-style set up, where he can stay up the pitch and just go straight towards goal. He's gotten better this year at making an impact from the bench, which he struggled to do in the past.

FEBravo Definitely suits a more expansive style but he can also keep the width (in contrast to, say, Madueke). Really want to give him another season because I think we'll be more vertical in 26/27, but it's up to him. He has earned the right to move on if he feels he needs regular playing time. Then again he got picked for Brazil without being a starter. Ancelotti and Arteta have the same opinion of him; it's just the fans who don't always appreciate what he brings to the table.

Quit the opposite, fans and Arteta seem to agree that he's good enough to be a backup but not good enough to start regularly.

Echoing everyone’s thoughts here that we likely move on from Jesus, one of our left wingers and potentially Norgaard and White if they push to leave. I think the only one we let leave for free would be Jesus so if White doesn’t have a market or wants to stay I think he will.

While the squad is deep, I do still think we need another attacker or two if a LW leaves. Our main options are going to be exhausted at the start of the season after 60+ games and a World Cup on top of it. We know Arteta isn’t going to throw away any competition (unfortunately) so to compete on four fronts, we need a big squad. Adding potential starters to push the rest of the squad will only help raise our ceiling IMO. But I also want to make sure we don’t ruin pathways for youth players. Dowman will make his own regardless but hopefully there are opportunities for Nwaneri since I think he deserves them. It’s definitely a delicate balance that all top teams struggle with- just look at City with Palmer.

Hmm really not sure on this one. He can lay gloves on big teams and has big potential but he can be very erratic and loose in his play

I think the initiative for our summer should be to have fresh players (after how many games we’ve played and a long World Cup) and to add quality.

Moving on from Martinelli actually feels like a risk to me. He’s embedded into our style of play, trusted (to an extent), and I would imagine he’ll be fresh after the World Cup he wasn’t overplayed this year.

Any new signing will have an Arteta embedding period, and we need a settled/fresh squad to start next season. In my mind we’ll have the advantage in building a lead in the league vs teams with turnover (City with Pep, Liverpool madness, etc).

Jesus is the player to move on from and Norgaard too if Arteta can’t trust him.

Last summer would have 100% been up for him, unless we are moving one of Odegaard/Eze not sure how this one fits in. He can play LW and AM so is flexible, superb player as well. I wonder what Villa would want for him.

I like Rogers but he does seem to have a ton of overlap with Eze. Could one play LW with the other at 10? Probably but I feel like we would really want an overlapping LB then to hold width. Personally, I'm more of a fan of grabbing a specialist LW with pace to replace Martinelli. The other possibility would be that Odegaard is going to be moved deeper in the buildup and it will be a rotation between Rice, MLS, Zubimendi, Odegaard and Merino in the 6 and 8 with more of an output oriented player at the 10 in Eze, Rogers and Nwaneri. Add in the flexibility of both Eze and Rogers to play LW and you've got more depth.

I'm still not completely convinced by the fit but it's refreshing that we are basically only getting linked with players at the top of the market now. These are the type of guys we would've been killing to be linked with 4-5 years ago.

I’m ok if Rogers is our Trossard replacement. He can play either side in the central attacking roles and he can play left wing although I want a top tier wide player out there.

I’d take Rogers - the fee would probably be steep - but as a player he’s got incredible quality and he’s only 23. We talk about adding more verticality and he definitely delivers.

Would likely be a Trossard/Jesus replacement. Wonder if we would replace Martinelli too if that were to happen.
