We have great squad and what's missing is that final bit of magic. I think the below is what our squad structure looks like as of today and what I think we need to be doing in each area this summer.
GK: Raya, Kepa
Honestly, this is fine. I wouldn't be doing anything here. Next summer we can start thinking seriously about bringing in proper competition for Raya
RB: Timber, White
LB: Calafiori, Hincapie
CB: Gabriel, Saliba, Mosquera, Salmon
Unfortunate but I think White will be replaced this summer. And I wouldn't be against adding another CB, maybe Senesi on a free? Would give us two genuine options in each position across the back four and allow Arteta to rest Saliba/Gabriel more frequently.
DM/6: Rice, Zubimendi, Norgaard
CM/left 8: MLS, Merino
CAM: Odegaard, Eze, Nwaneri
Norgaard will go and I think we'll see Rice back in 6 from now on with Zubi as his understudy. This immediately raises the floor in this position and gives us a solid foundation at the base of our midfield. I'd like us to add someone at left 8, someone like Fernandes would be great. And I think we're set for attacking midfield especially if we add someone like Kroupi or Alvarez in the forward line as they'd be able to play here too.
RW: Saka, Madueke, Dowman
LW: Trossard, Martinelli
ST: Gyokeres, Havertz, Jesus
I think we could do with two starting quality acquisitions but that seems unlikely. Ultimate priority should be one new LW and then a replacement for Jesus. Yildiz/Diomande/Barcola for the wings and Kroupi/Alvarez as a Jesus replacment would be ideal but would also mean we have a bloated squad. You'd imagine it would need to be three out from Martinelli/Trossard/Madueke/Gyokeres/Havertz/Jesus to accommodate two (expensive) ins. I hope we go for it as we need to freshen up the attack next season but I suspect we'll see two out (Martinelli or Trossard and Jesus) with one in.
