I love our window thus far. If we stood pat, I wouldn’t have too many issues other than wishing we could have gotten another attacker in to freshen things up. But I think we can and will win the league as is.
However, if we get rid of Martinelli (after already getting rid of Trossard) then we certainly need to bring in another attacker, especially if Arteta still is hesitant to play Eze on the left. I’d be fine with either N’Diaye or Alvarez. And if we got rid of Gyokeres, which I still think is unlikely, I’d want us to add another attacker. I think my ideal outcome is:
Martinelli, Jesus, Gyokeres out
N’Diaye, Alvarez in
I still think 70% of the drama around Alvarez is the Spanish press spreading propaganda to push him to Barca. But I think we are going to need to bring in a mercenary here and there during this title window to win some trophies and I honestly wouldn’t mind if Alvarez came here for two years, won us a couple of league titles and a champions league title and then left for Barca as a 29 year old at a similar fee. Now, if we are convinced we can actually get Kroupi in January then I’d be fine passing up on Alvarez, but I don’t think that’s the lock some here do as everyone will be in for him and Bournemouth will still hold all the cards.
