It's a big caveat. Said it before but Berta has a lot still to prove; if we don't get Vini over the line, I think he has a near impossible job making a success of this window.

Oh well, we gave it our best shot to try and sign him. Someone of that quality you simply have to go all in and in the end looks like R.Madrid softened their stance so they wouldn't lose him.

You need to be in the conversation for these type of players.

RC8 also, for real losing a top player at their peak punctures their prestige veneer, and undermines la ligas credibility as well, which to them is probably worth preserving at any price.

Who is next then? Cant even think of a good LW in the league ala Bruno. Barcola seems like the only option to me.

I recognise it's good we are willing to prepare a deal but just because we wanted him isn't a great statement. Lots of clubs want that the difference is getting the players in and we didn't put a bid we were looking to come in if the real stuff fell through but it always seemed unlikely as neither party had walked away despite long standing negotiations. We've got to find a way to bring top attacking quality in.

Frankly the market for forwards and wingers is fucked for the foreseeable future - I doubt it'll get any easier next summer so we'll just have to take the risk now. Everyone else is.

Gazza M Yes, though I honestly think it's less about sheer reputation or on-the-pitch quality and more about image rights, marketing, etc. Real Madrid make more revenue from kit sponsor and manufacturer than virtually any other club, and having figures like Vinicius is a vital part of their business model.

It's also why they will happily let him go if he asks for too much money, and why Arsenal probably did the right thing looking around for a possible deal. Ultimately it's Vinicius that's killing the transfer if he doesn't come, not Madrid.

frankly my final word on vincius unless something changes, the fact is the club knows it's a 10-20% shot at best so they'd not be laying it all there, have a good look at the players that have moved yet-

people don't understand this window - at the end of the day we have money to sign practically anyone who is available and wants to stay in europe outside psg financially and madrid/barca because they're the apex predator, it's upto us to decide wether we want them and pay for them or not.....
