I saw Konsa looking like shit at RB in the world cup and I'm not judging him based on how he performed out of position. I certainly won't do it for an even younger player.

Thing is Bruno is actually a top quality player who I can see us starting in many games. I thought that price was steep due to his age but I'm not that bothered about it because he is a very good player.

Konsa on the other hand I see as a decent player and not much more than that. He turns 29 soon like Bruno but I'll make an exception for Bruno because he is among the best in the league in that position,

CBs are also not really positions that managers rotate often, with midfield you can see us trying different combinations but in defence was Saliba is back he only gets rested in cup games. Konsa can cover as RB but again he won't start any game if our players are fit. Bruno on the other hand I can see being bought in because he gives us something different in midfield.

I think £40m-£50m is the range for someone like him. Lacroix moved for around £50m, had more time left on his contract, is younger and I think he is in that same quality bracket.

Gazza M Alvarez and Barcola. Both are overpriced IMO although I believe that Alvarez would be more successful here than Barcola.

samthegooner Honestly, so far I am quite happy with Bruno and Tzolis and the amounts involved appear reasonable.

The rest of the links I find very underwhelming footballistically for the amounts quoted, even if Vinicius exceptionally may have largely "paid for himself" to a greater extent than the others because of the marketing angle.

Gazza M Yes, though I honestly think it's less about sheer reputation or on-the-pitch quality and more about image rights, marketing, etc. Real Madrid make more revenue from kit sponsor and manufacturer than virtually any other club, and having figures like Vinicius is a vital part of their business model.

It's also why they will happily let him go if he asks for too much money, and why Arsenal probably did the right thing looking around for a possible deal. Ultimately it's Vinicius that's killing the transfer if he doesn't come, not Madrid.
