I'm glad I'd mentally checked out of this rumour after only one day. Have to wonder why the club leaked our interest when the likelihood of signing him was low and he was clearly desperate for more money from Madrid.

Dom They leaked to put pressure on the situation and bring things to a head. No guarantee Madrid were going to up their offer significantly – and possible they may have wanted to pivot away from Vini since him and Mbappe are not an ideal fit.

Looks like Vini is getting a bigger share of image rights, which would definitely do a lot to bridge the gap.

Frustrating – not over yet but I felt it was 50-50 before this meeting and now it's more like 90-10.

QuincyAbeyie Plan B's either don't improve us or are ridiculously overpriced for a marginal gain IMO. I hope we don't rush into a panic buy after this - I'd be much more comfortable getting in a quality defender to backup Saliba and then seeing if there are market opportunity attackers that become available over the last 25 days of the window.

Meh at least we tried. Was always a long shot and if he had chosen us at least we know it's because he would have been up for it. He chose to stay in his comfort zone which is fair enough. Wasn't to be.

Lol its too funny how like 2 or 3 hours with no actual information (only speculation) sends the entire internet into meltdown one way or another. "Sources say", "it is believed", etc. Our chance of signing him is still small, but not dead until he's signed a new deal with Real. If it was purely financial, Vini would've already told Real no, and explored our offer (which is still significantly higher overall), but we'll see what happens. I just hope we have a secondary 'higher profile' target that can really push our attach forward.

Gazza M Alvarez and Barcola. Both are overpriced IMO although I believe that Alvarez would be more successful here than Barcola.

fabrizio has obviously done a number of notable tap-ins but he's well connected and definitely gets a fair number of exclusive deals, you got to say he put his neck on the line based on whatever info he had about diomande even if the timing was a bit off, obviously people will point out a few cancelled here we go's but no journo is 100% correct

There's a big difference between reporting something that might be true and reporting something you think is true based on good research. One of those things is journalism, the other is just content creation.
