I think it is an overpay as well but I am also at the point where I don’t give a shit. I much prefer the club buy within the 23-26 age bracket but the odd one above isn’t the end of the world.

CM was a big issue last season, Rice is an absolute specimen of an athlete which got him through but we saw with Zubimendi he got burned out and can’t risk that again.

Sicario2 I think signing Bruno instead of a younger 1 (Scott/Bouaddi) is better for MLS.

Arteta is more likely to pair him with Bruno than he is a younger midfielder and when Bruno is in his early 30s MLS will still only be 22/23!

It sounds like our two big signings are going to be CM and LW so I don't think it is us prioritising one over the other.

I don't think Bruno eats into MLS minutes, I think we will play more with a double pivot and Bruno suits that role.

More annoying is that you're moaning for the sake of it instead of paying attention to what is actually happening.

We officially hold interest in him and have signed off on the financials internally.

He has one year left on his contract.

He refuses to sign the contract that's on the table.

Real refuse to improve the terms of his contract.

Real have said they will sell him if he doesn't sign.

His new manager had a public spat with him last season.

There is a real chance of this happening.

daredevil all of that is true but the most important component of the equation is missing - and that is Vini actually wanting to come here. So far, there has been zero indication from anyone worthwhile that he would consider it. he'd be a free agent next summer and be able to ask for anything he wants from any club on earth. he'd be a fool to move this summer and concede his economic value to Real. this is obvious to me and what I'd be telling him if I were his advisor.

get Real to pay him the world this summer or stay a year, and leave next summer for the payout of a fucking life time. moving to Arsenal (this summer) would make zero sense for him. zero.

We always talk about clubs benching players and forcing them but it never happens. Vini is in his prime and won't risk being bench or his image being tarnished so if he can get his move to a high profile club he'll take it. The fact he hasn't signed a contract and has pushed it this far indicates he is willing to walk if needed.

They can't afford to miss out on £100m+. Madrid are rich but they're not stupid rich - if he walks away for free that's hugely embarrassing and financially costly for Madrid. Vini isn't Matthieu Flamini, there would be an inquest on whether the execs are competent. If Vini refuses to leave, Madrid would absolutely threaten to lower his value and thus his image rights. Secondly, Vini's salary demands are already at the top end of world football - if he walks away for free, he'll have more suitors but I don't think he'll drastically net much more money.

Vini knows Madrid won't bench him. And Madrid wouldn't risk treating one of the world's biggest stars this way - it would also completely ruin any chance they have of re-signing him closer to the end of his contract.

If he doesn't sign this summer, he'll stay on at Madrid and play per normal. It'll then be an arms race for his signature next summer and with that leverage in play, he might get what he wants from Madrid and if not, there'll be a line of other clubs waiting to pay him whatever he asks for. We'll then have to compete with PSG, City, Liverpool, Chelsea, United, Bayern, Barca and he'll have all the leverage in the world.

From his perspective, why on earth would he give that up and move this summer?

You're conflating a normal club with a nation state. Real Madrid have sold stars for big sales countless times - from Ozil and Di Maria to Cristiano.

I don't think you understand that players don't have any power to stay at a club where they are not wanted and a bid has been accepted.

The scenarios where a player stays in the final year of his contract is always where the club is desperate to keep him and have him sign on - which is why they risk going into the final year.

If Vini doesn't sign - Real will sell him. The only way he stays without signing a contract is if it turns in the end Real are desperate to keep him, which they aren't as it stands.

He was benched just last season and caused the almighty rift with Alonso. Real have just went and got the biggest managerial personality in club football who will bench whoever the fuck he wants and had a public spat with Vini. He benched club legend and captain Iker Casillas in his first stint - he absolutely can do the same to Vini.

No player is bigger than the club and that's no more true than at Real. That's why all these stars go there and give up 50% of their image rights.

There's only two outcomes here - he signs on at Real's price or he doesn't and gets sold.

TambourineMan PSG were under national pressure to play Mbappe, they've have been public enemy number 1 if they fucked over Frances biggest star. No one at Real or in Spain gives a flying fuck if they decide to freeze out Vini.
