Qwiss that's my sense as well. I probably watch around 30-40 Real Madrid games a year. He dives in line with the time on the ball and the tackles he receives. And as you allude, Spain is not always the easiest place for a darkie. Even I have seen women clutch their bags when I get in the tram 😆

You get the same with Saka who's always being accused of diving and play acting whilst guys like Foden/Grealish/Palmer don't. Especially when Grealish's dribbling was all geared towards getting touched and playing for penalties at his peak.

Big Willie Champ I think it's incredibly unfair to compare Saka, who has a wonderful hard-working low-profile attitude, to Vini, who has a horrible clownish high-profile distracting attitude.

If you think his problem is being dark-skinned in Spain you are in for a very unpleasant surprise if/when we sign him.

I agree he is the 'type' of player we need on this side, in terms of his technical attributes, but I would really prefer it if we could resolve that situation without the drama.

We have no idea about the relative focus areas and the various things that the club are doing in the transfer department. As far as us fans group is concerned, isn’t that fact that we all spend so much of our lives talking about some London (in my case, on a different continent from me) club playing some random sport silly enough? 🙂

Vini has had the Madrid experience. Might as well come and be adored here in the best league in the world. There’s still loads of time for him to get the Saudi bag later in his career

Lukazan that has always been the most likely scenario but that we came into this in a real way at all is quite exciting. There is a still a chance we get him. Lets see how it plays out.

Qwiss is it not really that the club internally agreed an approach framework we could approve for a potential deal. Rather then any actual transfer movement? Given we don't really know what those parameters could be it might also be way off what Madrid or the player would.

Whether or not the club have an internal plan in the unlikely event this plays out in a way we could benefit. That should be put on the shelf and we should focus on other options if there is not an update early this week we should be moving on It would be stupid to hold on for this which while it might be defining is very unlikely to happen at the expense of actually recruiting the players we need. If other targets progress and ultimately that means this would no longer be possible I think that's perfectly fine as a risk management approach. We need to move on quickly and not fall for the trap of the idea versus the reality of it.

awooga83 I think it’s Vini Jr or bust for the LW position now. We’re not going to spend £150m for Barcola - not because we can’t affording it but the Kroenke’s don’t think that’s worth the risk. I can’t say I disagree with them if I was being neutral about the whole thing

awooga83 I agree. In fact, I am pretty sure the club has offers and feelers out to various agents for various players at all times and they accelerate / decelerate negotiations for them all depending on the situation. Not very different from how any of us would prioritise candidates during recruitment. You wait for the perfect candidate but at some point draw the line and always end up with some risk on either side (dream candidate coming up too late or waiting too long for them). It’s the nature of recruitment. I think the good thing here is there is no other choice for LW so the “backup” for Vini Jr is Eze. The only “pivot” I would like to see is going after Kroupi aggressively but that can be done in January as well in the worst case.
