Meatwad I didn't say it was a good piece of PR, just that it was a PR play. I just don't think it'll have the positive impact that the club think it'll have.
It reminds me of a friend of mine who'd advertise everything he does well before making any progress on anything. He'd tell us about job offers he hadn't actually received despite having only one preliminary call with a recruiter, or his plans to lose weight despite only starting his diet and gym routine for a few days, or his plans to buy a house when he hasn't saved enough for a deposit etc. etc. etc.
I personally prefer to wait until things are concrete before advertising and I feel like Arsenal here have gone early and want people to know they are in the conversation even if they aware that the chances of success are low. Just like my mate who'd tell us about the recruiter calling him for a job that offers a 20% jump even though nothing has happened yet.
I could be wrong and this is not a hill worth dieing on so I'll leave it at this.
