samthegooner I think it's fair to want to increase his minutes this year and I believe we will, but the goal should always be protecting his future.

If "protecting him" means playing him 70 minutes a week then that's fine. If it means playing him 10 minutes a week, then Arteta would be halfway to Emery status (in combination with some of these transfers).

DiabyKungFu We need to pay special attention to the minutes that Yamal played at similar ages. Looking at FBRef, they have Yamal playing 2,201 minutes in his season where he was 16, which would map to Dowman. I would want to keep his minutes below that number. Dowman only had 157 minutes in the PL last year so there clearly is a huge amount of difference in how much he played last year and even like 1200-1500 minutes. Noni had 1,211 minutes in the PL last year - that's closer to where I think Dowman should be this year and then you can give him some time in the Cups as well.

Agree that we shouldn’t be paying crazy money for Konsa. Wonder why we are not in for Ousmane Diomande - was a hot shot not too long ago. For anyone following his career - has he regressed to the point that no one is interested or just Sporting pricing him out of the market? Other option in my mind is Araujo (assuming he doesn’t go to RM).

Did some Youtube scouting (i know i know) and i am now calling it!, I see Rogers as a future striker/no9/attacker. His biggest ability is to move into space and take a shot/pass to nearest attacker. He has great sense of where everyone is around him and hence determine the next best move and finally all of this combines with his ability to run/drive with the ball to make him especially useful in transitions. So yeah he is NOT a winger and while he might be able to play there it would be at the cost of his huge ability/utility in central areas.

Rogers profile is a good fit for Chameleon FC.

He can play across the attack and gives cover for Rice in that left sided midfield slot.

He’s also a giant which is in keeping with Arteta’s approach.

well rogers gone, not completely convinced he was what was needed, very good player but question marks where he'd fit in here for me

However one thing is very clear, market fees have inflated and we have to get on with that, it can't be an excuse to dither for the right targets

Personally konsa for me is a player who's proven week-in week-out he's a solid dependable player for a club that's finished in the cl places a few times

Mosquera is not what you'd want playing 4-5 months or even 2-3 months at the moment

Tonali at an initial 92m was actually a decent price and he's a good age too, considering bruno is turning 29 this year

Alvarez is less prolific than gyo or kai, nor is he going to magically make the other wingers more prolific, barca have 2 25 goal a season wingers so works for them probably

Martinelli is never going to be a great winger, he isn’t a good enough dribbler. He can be a lethal inside forward, used in particular situations.

I’m glad Rogers is out, we need a real winger, our tactics with width aren’t changing.

One is a 20 year old kid who will need to thrown into the deep end because rice etc will be resting

the other has had barely one season of english football and will cost 100m plus, no clear indication if it's a one off

there are 1000's of ways i'd spend that money better
