150e for Barcola is a joke, worth closer to half that.. I really like Bruno but was hope for a real attacking mid to be the addition this summer... Guess Bruno is as far as an attack minded player Arteta wants to go in the more reserved 8 role... He is a real quality player regardless so can't be against it but I think we will still be lacking creativity if don't make major changes in attack... Someone like Barcola will do nothing to help with that.

Burnwinter reckon we'll get a ceiling raiser at LW and no where else. The ceiling is already high, its very hard to raise it in most areas.

Gurgen not sure either way but they are very close in level as 2 of the best midfielders in the league.

HomeSteak if £70m is the base price and then add ons it sounds like its just a cash of hashing out the particulars and the clubs are very close. This will probably be done in the coming weeks.

Not sure I agree with that. Rice is definitely best with a 6 IMO. I do think Bruno gives us a level of tactical flexibility that Arteta would be willing to actually use.

This is my thoughts too. He's certainly got more to give in the final 3rd than Rice but you wouldn't call him an attacking player.

HomeSteak £130m is the top of the Rogers price. If we paid it they'd give him to us tomorrow. Its about negotiating down from there.

PSG are the Man City of UCL. Buying and paying insane amounts for top players and emerging talents. They are going to be a problem for the next 3-4 years

The whole Rogers v Barcola thing is a conundrum.. Rogers would be better at scoring against a low block. He has the size and strength to power through and get that goal.. And he is 6'2", and can be an asset on corners. Barcola would be better for open games where he can use his speed and dribbling. I am unsure if he will be able to break down low block defenses, even if he's a good dribbler. Ideally, we have both options, but not sure we will sign both. Also not so sure we sell Martinelli this summer. He was actually (and surprisingly) one of the better players for Brazil when he played, and played a couple different positions. I know we havent seen his best this past season but he's still young, lightning fast and knows how to score (when not given time to think)

I think a lot of it depends on what are we doing with the rest of the squad, find it hard to guage what Arteta wants to do attacking wise next season... and what we do in one area has an impact in the rest of the team

Does he even see a problem with the attacking creativity or is he ok with it as long as it produces the results, can't argue with winning the league but struggle to see that being replicated next season
Where is Rice going to play. 6 or 8, that's makes a big impact on how we build up.
Are we going to bring a fullback that can significantly contribute to the attack other than Cala and what would that look like. Might be in the minority here but not completely against moving MLS back there as an option
What type of winger do we want, getting a Martinelli 2.0 still gives us same problems when playing the likes of Gyokeres
Are we signing another striker, what kind will it be and can they contribute significantly other than goals... Buildup, etc...

If I had to guess it would be more of the same style in each position.

Tactics

Bruno is better on the ball than both Rice and Zubimendi, and he'll help us progress the ball more effectively—something we struggled with last season until MLS broke into the team.

I'm actually pleased the club is targeting a player of his ilk rather than simply bringing in a backup for Zubimendi or a replacement for Nørgaard. By the end of last season, most of us agreed that this was the profile the club should be targeting in the summer.

I have very few doubts about Bruno though. I think he's an excellent footballer and a top-class ball player. My only concern is whether he's mobile enough for the very highest level. At Newcastle, he had two energetic runners around him in Tonali and Joelinton. That said, with Rice alongside him, I imagine he would be just fine.

the market has been flipped on its head. now the value is in signing ready made players. PSG has the luxury of signing potential because they can blood them in league games and then everyone gets to say see how brilliant that is. we don't have that luxury, so why pay big for tomorrow's potential and lose points playing them unless we're only interested in selling to another club for even more money than we paid.

We don't have a lot of room (slots, not budget) to add to the squad: Squad size is a bigger constraint than cash IMO.

3 GKs (Raya, Meslier, some youth GK) - Kepa will leave and Setford will go on loan

7 defenders (Timber, White, Saliba, Mosquera, Gabriel, Calafiori, Hincapié) - some chance we recuit a LB with MLS moving into MF. A RB if and only if White decides to leave (we will not push him out). Is Salmon ready to make a contribution?

6 MFs (Rice, Zubimendi, Odegaard, MLS, Merino, Nwaneri). Assuming Norgaard and Vieira will be sold/allowed to leave. Bruno makes 7.

6 attackers (Saka, Madueke, Havertz, Gyokeres, Martinelli, Eze). Assuming Trossard's exit is correctly reported and that Jesus and Nelson will be sold/allowed to leave. One addition (let's say Rogers) makes 7. Dowman doesn't count against squad size but does matter in terms of playing time.

So if we're recruiting 1 MF (Bruno for the moment) and 1 attacker (Rogers) that's 24 plus Dowman and Salmon. I think 25 is the max. So we have one more slot, two at the most (if GK 3 or Nwaneri doesn't count).

To me this means that going for both Rogers and Barcola requires selling Martinelli, and that in turn assumes that there's another UCL level club that wants him, will pay us, and will give him a raise (because he won't leave without a raise and a UCL level club).

Given all this, I think a buy and loan-back offer for Kroupi would in fact make a lot of sense. And I still want Bouaddi. We'll see how he does this afternoon. Price could go through the roof.

Doc if I had to pick just two, I’d go Kroupi and Bruno. Brazilian carnival. I think Kroupi is an unknown, but what I’ve seen says that he might have the highest upside of anyone we are linked with.

I don't think we'd have any trouble selling Martinelli. He's better than half the players moving for huge £60m+ deals nowadays.

City will be strong next season. Peps done quite a bit of groundwork before leaving. My hope is Real come in for Rodri. Can't see them recover from losing Bilva and Rodri in one summer.
