Qwiss And even if they do you probably won't get many seasons out of them at that level anyway. The generational ones might give you 6-7 seasons at the top. The rest will need years of development for 1-2 seasons worth of payoff.

The club would do well to remember what an utterly pointless project Robin van Persie turned out to be: a decade worth of patience and development just so he could win the title for Manchester United.

The nice thing about being at the top is you don't have to bet on potential anymore, you can just go and get proven quality. These days the fees are the same anyway.

Klaus exactly. Getting someone like Bouaddi for the same price as a proven player in the same position in an economic decision not a footballing one. You do it so you can sell at the same level in a few years.

lorddulaarsenal pretty much. losing rice for any extended period without a high quality replacement pretty much ends any title defense. its almost as big of an issue as our final 3rd impotence

Big Willie Champ he's young and he's at an EPL/CL chasing club. he'll get plenty of minutes based on the sheer amount of games we have. id wager that we'll be more inclined to give him starts when declans not around if he has an all-round player like bruno next to him to keep the balance in the side

awooga83 we're pretty flush, and the marketplace knows it. we're probs looking at 250m net spend at least to get the pieces we need

awooga83 yep, I'm quite happy with going for Bruno, but still can't the shake the feeling that we're not very good at spending on the attack. Partly we haven't had to, partly we've spent mostly wisely - well, Trossard was a great buy.

I'm certainly really keen to see what we do with our attack this window.

He (Bruno) will be a good signing and is actually at the perfect stage of his career. There will be no adaption period and he'll hit the ground running, theoretically giving us the best 2 or 3 years of his career before he starts to taper off and this timing should coincide perfectly with MLS fully maturing. I'd be happy with this arrangement.

Then add a top LW and Arteta's usual CB/FB hybrid and I think we'll be in a great position to retain the title and push for the CL once again. The football won't be pretty but hey-ho, we've just got to accept that under this manager and as long we win I won't complain (too much).

Don't mind if we sign Guimarães as it obviously reinforces us, but it's raising the floor not the ceiling. He'd better work out smoothly as well for that kind of money. Looks increasingly like it'll be some deal yet to be closed at left wing or bust if we're going to improve our level this window.

Burnwinter reckon we'll get a ceiling raiser at LW and no where else. The ceiling is already high, its very hard to raise it in most areas.

Gurgen not sure either way but they are very close in level as 2 of the best midfielders in the league.

HomeSteak if £70m is the base price and then add ons it sounds like its just a cash of hashing out the particulars and the clubs are very close. This will probably be done in the coming weeks.

Not sure I agree with that. Rice is definitely best with a 6 IMO. I do think Bruno gives us a level of tactical flexibility that Arteta would be willing to actually use.

Doc Guess Bruno is as far as an attack minded player Arteta wants to go in the more reserved 8 role...

This is my thoughts too. He's certainly got more to give in the final 3rd than Rice but you wouldn't call him an attacking player.

HomeSteak £130m is the top of the Rogers price. If we paid it they'd give him to us tomorrow. Its about negotiating down from there.

He most definitely increases the celing as a Rice/Bruno/Ode midfield is better than a Rice/MLS/Ode or Zubi/Rice/Ode midfield. He also raises the floor at the same time as we will now have Zubi and MLS as back-up options which is an insanely good place to be.

Gurgen not the way we set up. Zubi as 6 > Bruno, but as we saw at the end of the season it looks like Rice will be our 6 next season and Bruno will be the new 8 competing with MLS. And in that configuration, Rice(6)/Bruno(8) is > Zubi(6)/Rice(8) in my opinion.

Think Bruno and Rogers would cost a combined of approx 180 million. How realistic is someone like Barcola after that?
