MistaT Will be really interesting to see how this plays out. Clearly Newcastle don't want to sell him and they don't have to - he's club captain, has 2 years left on his deal (potentially three if there's an automatic extension of a year as rumored), and they just lost Tonali. But it seems like that's what has influenced him to ask for a transfer to Arsenal and potentially force their hand. We know from first hand experience that this doesn't mean he's going to leave (Caicedo, Suarez, etc.) but will they want to have another summer saga with them playing chicken with their biggest star asking to leave? And it sounds like there are rumors of an informal agreement saying if there was no Europe, he could leave for a top team for 60m (again, Suarez anyone?). Getting a player of his caliber for that price would be highway robbery in the current market where 100m is the floor for a good CM and unproven talents like Andrey Santos are going for 50m.

Klaus Now do Champions League.

He's also one of the few attackers we played all season that gave us significant trouble with where he popped up positionally and his threat to goal. Is he going to win the Golden Boot? Probably not. Will he help our attack come up with more ideas when we look stagnant? Yes. That's what I'm looking for this summer - attackers that can come into this team and continue to play to our strengths out of possession while providing new ideas/options in the attack. Personally, I think he'd be a great addition to the squad if Kroupi is not going to be sold. I'd be on board with Kroupi if we could get him though.

60m for Bruno is a no brainer. I don’t care if he’s a bit older, he’s still got 2-3 years left in those legs minimum and that’s what we need for this phase.

Mirth he'll go for 85m, is my prediction. its over priced but it solves what has emerged as a core issue (being able to safely rest rice), so we're going to have to pay up

Our recruitment this summer seems lazy and uninspired. Alvarez, Bruno, these guys are yesterday’s news. One wonders whether we have a scouting department at all.

Gurgen I hope it's just a case of going for the better and more established player because the younger ones are being so heavily overpriced. When guys like Fernandes, Bouaddi and Scott are quoted at 100 million there's virtually no reason to look at them anymore.

I would have preferred a quicker and younger player than Bruno ideally, but anyone who's good enough to start 30 PL games for a title winner will do at this stage. Just look at Rice: bloke can't even train with England. We have to relieve him next season because he's gonna spend months on the sidelines.

Gurgen Tzolis is a fairly off the radar one. As for age both Rogers and Barcola are just 23. We tried for Monga who's 16.

I'm fine with Guimaraes, but certainly not the most exciting.

It's as @Klaus once said "an Alex Ferguson type of signing". He's bound to come in an immediately offload pressure on all of our midfielders and solidify us as favorites heading into next years league and domestic cups. Not sure he does enough to get us over the hump for Champs, but at worst he'll keep Rice fresh.

This is exactly right - United were particularly good at this but most top clubs make a healthy portion of boring and uninspired signings that guarantee performance.

Plus we need someone to step up straight away, Rice looks shattered and will inevitably breakdown - Bouaddi and Kone look more exciting but I have question marks on whether they'll adapt and deliver straight away.

We've got an excellent chance while Liverpool, Chelsea, City are in transition this season - we absolutely need to nail the back to back league titles.

City will be strong next season. Peps done quite a bit of groundwork before leaving. My hope is Real come in for Rodri. Can't see them recover from losing Bilva and Rodri in one summer.

Qwiss And even if they do you probably won't get many seasons out of them at that level anyway. The generational ones might give you 6-7 seasons at the top. The rest will need years of development for 1-2 seasons worth of payoff.

The club would do well to remember what an utterly pointless project Robin van Persie turned out to be: a decade worth of patience and development just so he could win the title for Manchester United.

The nice thing about being at the top is you don't have to bet on potential anymore, you can just go and get proven quality. These days the fees are the same anyway.

Also the single biggest thing we can do to improve our odds in the CL is to wrap up the league as early as possible. It's not easy but I'm fed up of seeing stats of how little Dembele plays.
