QuincyAbeyie I didn't watch much Milan last season, but his stats certainly don't suggest that he's anything close to as good at defending as he is at attacking.

Seems like a limitation in statistical breakdowns more than anything else. What's the point of looking at accumulative defensive stats when he predominantly played in an attacking position? They're always gonna be horrible. Whenever Milan asked him to play deeper he was excellent though.

The ball hit his arm to deny a goal scoring opportunity, and even though he put his arm behind his back, they claim he purposely leaned into the ball to stop it.

PGMO(L) can't be left to referee the laws, there's an embarrassing lack of sophistication in their thinking.

Every season they stick a finger up and say "this year we're going to make handball decisions differently" then reveal for weeks on end they haven't thought any of it through.

I actually think that was the right call. He was leaning in an effort to stop the shot, which was on target. The arm, however close to his body, makes him bigger. If he moves a touch faster it hits his chest - football is full of things where a split second (an inch) makes all the difference.

The “unnatural position” rule, makes sense. The making himself bigger rule makes sense. The lean in rule, is just dumb.
