Dom I didn't realise that but I personally wouldn't describe any of that as arrogant either, I just see it as a failed attempt to change/improve the culture. Let's be honest though, the culture wasn't working once we got to late-stage Wenger.

I think the way these things are viewed often gets dictated by how successful the individual ended up being overall. Emery failed miserably at his culture change but Arteta seems to have been successful (pending trophies). But in another era, Arteta gets called arrogant for some of the culture changes he implemented.

Pepe LeFrits Klopp’s biggest achievement was man managing Mane and Salah. Firmino was a saint having to deal with those two.

Also Ekitike is better than Isak so that’s another headache for Slot.

Having read between the lines of Salah's outburst, I reckon people up the food chain at FSG are trying to force Salah out using Slot as their proxy, which Slot is probably happy to do. I can understand why he's upset but the wounded, self-absorbed rhetoric is hilarious.

They've been unwise to reinvest in Salah and Van Dijk. We applauded when they did it. And they've made it worse by making these big money signings that have gone so poorly so far. It's all very How Not to Rebuild a Squad 101.

You could tell they didn’t really want to, but they “had to” because of the optics ( losing Trent to Madrid, Salah in the form of his life and milking the crowd adoration steadily talking about the contract situation in public, rumors around VVD and Konate) and to prevent a break down of their season. Weak leadership. I’m sure they’ve looked at their accounts this past summer and everything is screaming bad investments/red, hence trying to flog him off now. They will get bailed out by Saudi though. That’s the unfortunate aspect of all this.

That said I wouldn't begrudge the SPL if they turn out to be ready to part with big money for the biggest Arabic football star as he enters his career twilight. There's more logic to it than there is to most of the shit they do.

Good news is that extricating Salah would only solve one problem among about half a dozen big problems they've got.

Putting it out publicly is clearly a strategic move by Salah but he's not wrong about him being a scapegoat. The reality is he carried that team to a title last year and now that he's performing like a mere mortal again he's getting all the blame. He hasn't been much worse than Gakpo on the other wing. Konate is the other one getting pelters, and he deserves them, but Virgil has been dodgy too and is getting away with it. Gravenberch has reverted to his mediocre level. MacAllisters not been good. Basically Sozbozlai is carrying the midfield and at times the defence. And Isak and Wirtz have been complete flops. Slot got all the plaudits last season but Liverpool go up and down with Salahs form, that in itself is an indictment of his managerial ability.

Burnwinter the great thing about this statement from Salah is that is hugely strengthens anyone looking to sign him. Liverpool wont get as much for him now as they would have in the summer if he just shut up and carried on professionally.

Reckon they might flog Salah off for cheap in winter given the mood, and perhaps that's what the subtext is here. He's costing them £500k per week in wages. I can see a decent fee if SPL clubs are competing for him and again, it would hardly be surprising if they were.
