Mirth Yep, he goes on a great 3-month run every season to cover up the fact that he has done very little before then. Expect him to score 15 in 15 efter Christmas when Liverpool are already 12 points behind in the title race.

He's basically useless when he doesn't get space too. Barely creates anything, never puts in a shift. He works best when he has someone else who can take responsibility for the game next to him. That's Gyökeres for Sweden and used to be Murphy/Gordon for Newcastle. I don't expect him to work out at Liverpool in the short-to-medium term unless he has Gakpo on the pitch, which means Slot is gonna have to bench either Salah or Ekitike.

Sicario2 I mean you can also say we had to pull it back against city and lost to Liverpool. The real test is arsenal's credentials is consistency which we've failed over previous seasons.

Nah, deduct the shit out of them so they don't even qualify for the CL. Couldn't give a shit winning it like that. In fact I'd probably rub it in their face even more.

Sicario2 not over a season,t's good but we had a record first half of the season before then blew it. People aren't surprised by us having this kind of run they think we'll fall apart when it counts. This is a great start but I don't draw much more then that from it.

Bro did you see that one chance in the first half where he had the ball on the half way line and the forward was through on goal between the two CBs who spread wide as if they were Moses parting the red sea? And then another of their players ran wide doen the touchline and Wirtz failed to find anyone and instead passed it straight to the City CBs. I have to find the clip is anyone posted it.

RocktheCasbah pretty much everyone (including myself) had Isak and Wirtz at the top of the list. Ekitike barely got any attention. Funny how it all works.

Yeah it was. Always felt them losing Diaz, Nunez and Jota would have been an issue for them if they ended up buying just Isak, Ekitike and Wirtz. This is what I thought at the time:

I'm of the opinion that he'll probably miss a large chunk of the season with Liverpool struggling without any of Diaz, Nunez and Jota available to them anymore

awooga83 I understand you feel a bit too emotionally scarred to regard us as genuine title challengers, especially in November, but it's going to be a long season for everyone here - including you - if you keep to this script. 😊

Why not just give yourself to it and see what happens? You give the impression you're sitting there waiting to be impressed. I don't know if I'm being a bit unfair, but if you are, I'm not sure that's how this works.

Mirth well, my point at the time regarding Wirtz was the club obviously didn't - and whether anyone liked it or not, they would have had their reasons.

I get disappointment at the club not signing players you, or anyone else, rate - but getting angry about it when the club has shown no interest at all? It's a little silly, I think.

And, for the record, that would genuinely have been my approach in the event Eze (who I've loved - I reckon - a lot longer than anyone else here) had ended up at Spurs. Except, of course, he didn't. 😆

RocktheCasbah that's fair, I think there is truth in I don't have much belief in any Arsenal team getting it done mainly because every time we've shown potential we have blown it and that's what is more likely to give me a stronger belief proving it. I do have a better sense of the team could do it this season but the hurdle we have to get past now for me is get to February and be a similar gap ahead. Or a total implosion from the chasing pack. Until then it's a good position but we've done this twice before and not yet deliver.

Ultimately I want us to win it and do whatever it takes to do that whenever there are faults look to improve that..I don't want another season of looking good but ultimately not winning the big trophies.

I’m worried that Doku and/or Foden are about to take off. Man City looked jaded when it was just Haaland doing the work, but if they get a few players on form at once then their systematic control of games can become too much for teams to overturn via a few key moments.

Not good, hope the Internationals break disjoints them, as it can only help us.
