100% need him, we still need another creative spark in our squad and he fits that description.

Some of that is due to our injury problems but it is also down to clubs knowing that if they can double/triple mark and shut out Saka we struggle to create in open play. We had to rely on a lot of goals from set pieces last season, it is important to be able to score from set pieces but there was a time where it felt like our goals would only come from set pieces!

Mirth Yeah, what makes it feel encouraging is his age. They have no takers for a 28-year-old Mateta right now even though he's better than a bunch of players who have moved this window. Can't imagine they want to be in that position with Eze next summer considering their terrible economy.

I don't think this happens unless Trossard goes and to be honest I don't mind that. Trossard frustrated me at times last season but he's still a solid enough option. In fact last season he had the exact same PL goals and assist numbers as Eze and neither had outlier seasons. Given the option I'd take the switch but I don't it moves the needle as much as some of us think. The real benefit of the switch would be to have Eze as a midfield option.

Qwiss You can’t just judge on goals and assist numbers. Eze can do a lot more on a football pitch than Trossard can.

CPM from midfield yeah definitely. On the left wing? They do different things. Like I say I'd swap them no problem, if we get Eze I think we will have improved but marginally and tactically rather than some huge LW upgrade. I also think Trossard is that the start of a bit of a downward trajectory, could see signs of it towards the end of the season. A change could suit all parties.

Trossard to my surprise managed 20 g/a last season and the same numbers the season before.

Martinelli is the one not delivering the end product. Should have tried him up front last season.

You can try Martinelli on the moon, won't make a difference - he's just like prime theo, except not as rapid and without the benefit of decent (not great) finishing.
