Burnwinter yep. He gets the plaudits or the criticism depending on how the signings do (along with Mikel) so it's fair enough. It's like saying Arteta didn't do X, Y or Z because he has other coaches on the staff.

Bring Back Kerrea Gilbert an obligation wouldn't need to be actively triggered so because of that I guess it would count on this year's spending. But instead we basically have an option to buy, while Leverkusen have the right to make us exercise it even if we don't want to.

The difference in practice from an obligation to buy is that if we want to send him back and Leverkusen want to have him back, that can be done.

No there could be both a put option and a call option, but if neither of the parties triggers one of them then it doesn't happen.

And i am sure it also has to do with accounting this year v accounting next year, so the money doesn't count against us this year.

Qwiss Don't mean to be too bitchy, but I reckon there's probably a few directors of football in the sport who don't understand these issues in the slightest.

Not worried about Saka but I fully expected Saliba to turn into a saga - even if he eventually signs for us. He’s got a lot of leverage.

Mirth agree I think it's probably inevitable if he can keep progressing that he will leave Arsenal at some point. For us it's a case of trying to maximise what we can do and hopefully win while he's here.

If we win the big things why would he leave? I know he has this Real Madrid Destiny kind of aura to him, but I feel like it's been fabricated by our insecure fan base 😆.

they just don't think we're CAPABLE of winning the big things. if you think we're capable you aren't the type of person to think saliba is going anywhere. but if we don't then he'll definitely be gone, no fabrication necessary.

Winning trophies isn't enough for one to stay. Trent and C. Ronaldo both moved there despite winning big honours.

I agree on the point about Arsenal fans bedwetting regarding the Madrid links. If it happens, fair enough, but until then it's not worth the concern.
