Klaus makes sense. Vinnie amd Nwaneri transfers would net out this year. But you’d still have the Vinnie problem again next year if indeed we are financially tight. I.e, if we got Vinnie for £125m and put him on a 5 year £125m contract (£500k/week), that would be £250m total and £50m / year opex. You could book £50m immediately for MLs or Nwaneri and net out now. But that £50m going out would still be around next year. Guess you auction of Salmon next year
Btw, this is a perverse accounting structure that encourages teams to give up talented youth because you won’t get that sort of profit from players you got from other clubs. Nobody that Arsenal, City , Liverpool etc have bought recently can be offloaded for £50m profit. Largely because all the upside is baked into player fees very early on, hence these daft Anderson, Rogers, Tonali, Gordon transfers. Maybe for us we get that return on Saliba and Gabriel, but you’re not getting it on many others, and only a masochist entertains such a sale.
