Gazza M That tweet is spot on by the way. You don't have to play him in behind, you just have to give him the ball to run in the channels and he'll take care of the rest. He's not even picky about which side he gets it on.
There has been exactly one ball like that in 3 games, a balloon pass from Calafiori vs Leeds, and he scored against 4 defenders. Against Liverpool it was Martinelli who got those balls to run at, and then Madueke who's more comparable one-on-one but isn't even in the same stratosphere as a finisher.
I think it'll come as we're moving forward though; Eze is the perfect player to put on the left if we want the striker to be more involved outside the box. From what I've been able to tell we play so much down the right because that's where Saka and Ødegaard always are, and it's the area where both Merino and Havertz to their detriment drop deep, because their instinct is to get involved in the play. We've needed a leftsided playmaker badly to become less predictable and exploit the left channel more.
