est It's a high variance game. Combinations of stats are indeed meaningless. Probability based stats are meaningful, particularly as a way of sorting individual contributions to team outcomes.
RowJimmy less meaningful than individual outcomes i.e. goals and assists, especially for forwards.
I’m all for probability stats but they need to be assessed over longer periods (say 10+ games). There’s no way we should look at today’s game and say Madueke was more influential than Martinelli.
@Sicario2 — avatar bet on who scores/assists more this year?
I’ll take Martinelli and give you Madueke.
Would be for totals, but we can do per 90 if one player gets a serious injury.
what actually happens has to mean more than what could happen.
@MistaT in the league Madueke all day. CL Martinelli plays better as the defenders don’t suffocate him and he has more time on the ball.

Wouldn't that benefit Madueke as well as any other player up front for us. Even more so for Madueke because he will probably start more and play more mins in the CL anyways this season.
Sicario2 — don’t be hiding now.
We’re talking all competitions (total).
est regardless of stats the eyes test shows you Madueke is a danger and a threat all the time aka playing well. Yes, there can be improvements to his end product but he’s doing the hard part (getting past players) right and with a bit more getting used to his teammates and better timing/fitness the stats will follow.
Sicario2 end product is the hard part. that's why it costs more in the market and why match scores are what they are.
Coombs he’s been our most dangerous outlet and most of our attacking threat has come through him. Much, much better than some mugs thought he was going to be so credit to him.
Big Willie ok so Eze who has had one more assist than him has had a better season so far?
Meatwad how many players do you see dribble past players these days? It’s a forgotten art in the game. He scored for England didn’t he in an hostile environment just last week. He can finish and the stats will come. He’s building a good base and the rest will follow.
Big Willie maybe it’s more important psychologically for Mart give his decline in the Prem.
Sicario2 that doesn't mean it's the hard part.

You said "CL Martinelli plays better as the defenders don’t suffocate him and he has more time on the ball"
Is it easier or not. And if so then wouldn't it also be easier for Madueke, especially if he plays more CL minutes?
Think Madueke looks a great signing so far. Love that he always looks to beat his man and you'd back him most of the time. It's only a matter of time before goals and assists will come.
He needs to vary his play so he comes onto his left foot more often. He struggles to dig out an accurate or correct final cutback or cross from the by-line with his right foot, and the space gets reduced to fuck out there.

Matching or getting close to Trossard should be a minimum in my view. I'm not demanding that he has to become the next Dembele to be considered a success, but he should be matching Trossard's output. He's getting lots of opportunities to deliver a final ball or take a shot on goal but is so far fluffing those moments. The stage is there for him to become very productive.
Dom Matching or getting close to Trossard should be a minimum in my view.
Okay then, so long as we're applying this stringent standard to Eze and the rest of the forwards. Trossard is pretty much the most productive substitute forward in world football.
He has very little end product so far but in general looks to be promising. Certainly light years ahead of the back ups we had last season.
