Having pondered Madueke a bit further I think it should be fairly easy to improve his numbers a bit. He gets a lot of touches in the box (4th most in the league last season), but this is the exact issue with wide forwards getting on the ball so much in modern football: they have the wrong instincts. Any striker that takes more than 5-6 touches per shot ought to be hanged.
Look at Gyökeres for instance who is the best in Europe in this metric: he averages 8 touches in the box per game, but he also averages 4 box touches per shot (Salah is the only other player who averages close to 8 box touches per game, but he takes 6 touches to get a shot off). In other words he gets off two shots from inside the box every single game. That's the difference between the ball going to a great striker and a wide forward in simple terms.
If we can get Madueke down to fewer touches per shot he could be a bit of a steal considering he does get into the box a lot. Training with a real striker might improve him in this regard: the poor bloke is used to taking his cues from Nicholas Jackson.
