I have hope for Madueke because he does a lot of things very well. His final decision making lets him down and that is of course a big worry and unless he improves on that he'll never become a top player. He also is happy to play backup to our main man and can cover multiple positions. We overpaid but is what it is.
As for Gyokeres, he does fewer things well and simply does not fit in the way this team plays. He has made big improvements this year, his hold play in particular looked a lot better but there are big technical/physical flaws in his game which simply will not be fixed. He isn't strong enough to compete with the strongest CBs and his control and touch simply is not good enough, that is why he can't get his shot away. He has a superb shot and if he can get his shot away he can be devastating but when you play against mostly low blocks in tight spaces that isn't possible.
What has really disappointed me about Gyokeres is his movement, his movement has never looked elite but a fair few times ball watching and not sniffing out a chance like a CF should. I expected him to get 20+ PL goals, he should be dominating the lesser teams.
