Dom At some point in the future, with luck, Saka and Odegaard will reflect on why they were so feeble in the biggest game of their careers. IMO, Arteta's post-match outpouring on needing more match winners was aimed at our big name attacking players.

It was (hopefully) also aimed at us having an unprecedentedly large transfer outlay and having the only players from that outlay who started the match be two fullbacks that each only started due to injuries.

IBL True but I don't think that is where Nwaneri or Areta see his future, the person who blocked Nwaneri wasn't Madueke but Eze.

We also needed pace and directness in our team and Madueke offers that. I have a problem with the price we paid for him but not with the player, I think he'll prove a lot of players wrong.

Agree with this. The word "ambition" was code for Arsenal becoming more ruthless with these players who've been so important on the journey to league success. And now that journey's paid off we can be ruthless without any failures of conscience. All you can say beyond that is that in a less corrupt competition we would've reached this stage two or three seasons ago.

Don Pacifico to be fair at the moment there is an opportunity to potentially compete with Saka he's not as untouchable as say a couple of seasons back so there is something to pitch in that you've got the chance to make it your position

awooga83 Tuchel will probably drain every ounce of sweat from Saka this summer. So Madueke and Dowman will have a big role to play in the first two months of the season. Maybe we can save Saka for Europe like PSG 🙃

To be fair we tried for Mbeumo but Man Utd were a lot more desperate than we were. £70m for him with a year left on his contract? Crazy

Semenyo we defo missed out on, around February/March time we had nothing from our left side but clearly city were more desperate than us whereas we wanted to wait until the summer.

I don't regard Semenyo as elite anyway. Which is what we need.

He's a mediocre dribbler.

Bring Back Kerrea Gilbert who is elite. Serious lack of that in the market. If they can get us someone better than Semenyo in the market they'll have done very well.

We got our pants pulled up with this signing and everyone knows that, we'd be lucky to get 40m for him this summer, hope some club like nottingham or fulham pay up

Comparing him with saka (who can't even freaking train right now and still managed to play a few halves to get us past atletico and fulham) is laughable

If one wants to defend everything arteta does, it's fine but imo this signing was clearly not the right one

We can all talk about whether or not he was the 'right signing', but at the end of the day, we won the title, and thats what matters. He was not the ideal signing, but he (and others) were enough to get us over that last hurdle.

That doesnt mean people can't be improved upon though.

USArsenal I can see that but for us to go up a level we need better then that going forwards.i think the signing didn't improve our attacking quality or options which is what I think we need for the next steps even in the league.

Especially as at the moment Saka has been struggling with fitness and that form we are hoping for so the person behind him needs a bit more quality going forwards and I don't think Madueke can provide that.
