I don't know why but is what it is, at the time you want the players who step up first to be the ones who go forward. PSG also had big players not step up to take penalties, so I am not going to hold that against him.

IBL Realistically while we have Saka no top player will come in and be happy to play backup to him. If Madueke is happy to do that then we should keep him in the squad. I do think there is more to come from him as well.

I was thinking the same thing, man was fighting for a pen but was nowhere to be seen in the shootout.

But I don't blame him, what do you think would have happened if he missed a pen? I don't think he would have survived.

All Madueke had to do was complete one dribble and one pass to eclipse Saka.

At some point in the future, with luck, Saka and Odegaard will reflect on why they were so feeble in the biggest game of their careers. IMO, Arteta's post-match outpouring on needing more match winners was aimed at our big name attacking players.

It was (hopefully) also aimed at us having an unprecedentedly large transfer outlay and having the only players from that outlay who started the match be two fullbacks that each only started due to injuries.

Agree with this. The word "ambition" was code for Arsenal becoming more ruthless with these players who've been so important on the journey to league success. And now that journey's paid off we can be ruthless without any failures of conscience. All you can say beyond that is that in a less corrupt competition we would've reached this stage two or three seasons ago.
