Pepe LeFrits Can't watch this game just now but generally we don't look like a pressing team without Odegaard. Lack the leadership and nous to do it in any meaningful way without him leading the charge and shaping those around him.

having a forward that wants to get on the ball and make something happen will be a much needed shift for this team. kai is still largely an off the ball entity that needs to be fed, and doesn't offer much while on the ball

Sounds like a lot of you are making too much of our first preseason game and the impact that players may or may not have. Lol.
USArsenal Yea, just wanted to say that this is the first game of pre-season. Game is played at a walking pace and players are rusty as hell. Shouldn't make too many conclusions from this.

It's probably why Arteta has been reticient playing Nwaneri in the middle as he likely doesn't have the legs to be the creative fulcrum and the pressing lead. It's a huge responsibility to take on.

It's not one pre-season game, it's the last two seasons. Martinelli is fantastic but not good enough for a team that wants to win the league and has to play against low blocks most weeks. He'd be great for someone like Villa but is a level below what we need to win now.
Kai was pretty quiet in that first half.
That right there shows what we are lacking with Havertz, Odegaard plays the ball down the channel, he's not ready to go, we lose possession/momentum
