Don Pacifico True, not really an exciting signing but someone who I think will prove very valuation. If Zubimendi has trouble settling right in he can step in but also give us good rotation options and someone to bring in if we are in tight games and need to see the match out.

JazzG can definitely see Arteta activating the Norgaard protocol and bringing him on for one of our creatives / forwards when we are trying to hold on to a slender lead

I guess the only question mark will be about his passing range, which on my limited viewing seems inferior to Zubimendi but not as bad as some of the player descriptions I've seen.

Yeah, well we aren't really signing him to spread the ball around. He's a CDM backup, and he will definitely have a role to play, especially if we're looking to see out a game or if Zubi needs a spell... Solid signing, low price, lots of experience, big guy, former captain. Dont really see the downside here.

Don Pacifico Most midfielders will have an inferior passing range to Zubi. But Norgaard is a competent passer but not an expansive one.

At that price and contract length it’s basically as close to zero risk as a signing gets.

if he’s useful, great - bargain signing with an option to extend
if he’s shit, fine - we’re back where we started with minimum outlay
if he’s average but getting in the way of promising youth, ok - he’s only on a 2 year deal. Just don’t extend him.

There are better players out there, of course, but this signing doesn’t necessarily stop us from making those moves further down the line

Seems to me Norgaard is coming as something a little behind second choice, he's good as that. Hope we see very little of him and also that when we do see him, we're usually winning by a margin.
