The biggest problem for me is that we are no longer overloading the centre of the pitch. So we're playing even more down the flanks than in previous seasons.
In each of the last three seasons, we had an inverted fullback who would morph our build up structure into a 3-2-2 with a box midfield and occasionally a 3-2-3 with a false 9. So we had 4-5 players through the centre of the pitch. We were much better at creating through the centre and dominating the ball.
This season, we're playing with traditional fullbacks and a proper CF. So we have only 3 players in the centre of the pitch, so we almost never play through the centre and all our attacks come down the flanks. Maybe it was a response to the mid and low blocks but I feel like we're worse for it.
