For me it was an opportunity to add a more creative player in the mix but we didn't.. going to wait till the end of the window to see who we being in.. but imo we are in real danger of going too far with this whole power and dominance thing.... at the expense of other areas..

The litmus test for whether this is a good signing or not is next season when we've been playing every 3 days since the start of December and it's now mid-January, Zubimendi and the rest of the midfield (assuming they're healthy) are running on fumes and we have an away tie to Aston Villa in mid-week (I've not seen the fixture list so excuse me) - we look to our bench and we're looking at Norgaard, Merino and Nwaneri (who is also covering for Saka) to freshen the midfield up.

How confident are you bringing in one of those players and not significantly reducing our chance of taking all three points?

IBL yeah don’t quite get the negative comments on this one. Some ppl were happy with Partey leaving and us not even getting a replacement.

Happy enough with this. Agoumé more of an investment but this guy will likely be a leader in the dressing room and will be desperate to win the PL.

If he came as last signing after we secured some Rodrygo Ekitike etc whoever I'd be ok with it. But would anyone here really have looked at United or Spurs getting this guy in thinking "shit he'll improve them"

As for the player, he is a squad player being bought in on the cheap. I actually think he would improve Utd, but he hasn't been bought in as a first team player. More someone to raise the floor level, Zubimendi is the ceiling raiser. Allows us different combinations in midfield if we need to rest players.

Coombs sure but none of our signings are about it these days. Our most serious links this window apart from Sesko (who's far from a sure thing fwiw) are a goalie and two DMs. You can't tell me you're not seeing a pattern at this stage

I watch very little football outside of Arsenal games and the Euros/World Cup as it's mostly too difficult with the time difference to commit to other games. So don't really know enough about this guy to have an opinion either way. He's not an exciting sounding signinh and doesn't sound like he's adding the difference between winning a trophy or not but at least he's not from Chelsea's bins I suppose. Still awaiting a difference making goalscorer.

It's a drop in standards. Is the Zubimendi and Norgaard combo better than the Partey and Jorginho combo of 2023? I'm a fan of Zubimendi but I'm going with 'NO'. Norgaard is a couple of levels below the other three so it makes our central midfield strength in depth weaker than in 23/24.

I'll become indifferent to this transfer if we sign a striker and winger.

Dom Jorginho of a few years ago maybe but you need to compare him to what he is replacing now. Zubimendi has it in him to be better than any version of Partey/Jorginho we have seen, that in itself Norgaard is just a backup player, I am guessing so we can find a younger play when we have more funds.

Another big area of improvement will be availability, Zubimendi averaging 45+ games a season over the last few years. Partey and Jorginho were massively unreliable in that department.

Dom he's never stood out to me, seems a bit of a typical PL plodder.

What annoys me most is the order of these signings. We urgently need both starting and backup level players in the front four yet the last eight or so signings (bar Sterling who Arteta never wanted) are all defensive guys

Dom Jorginho was decent but I think this is really exaggerating how good he's been. There are not "a couple of levels" between Arsenal era Jorginho and Norgaard.

I think we've done a good job of maintaining quality and depth at DM.
